Got out with

I met Chappy at about "just before breakfast" at Guana dam Saturday for a quick trip to see what was in the lake. He'd been there since o'dark thirty waiting for me  and yes, I'm still hearing about it.

I caught up with him a 1/4 mile or so north of the launch and after hearing about how he could have slept for another hour :nopity: Chappy started to chase some crashing birds that turned out to be a couple of robo-ducks and a bunch of decoys.

We stopped before we got to them as we were less than a mile or so north of the dam. Both of us thought hunting ended at the Observation tower about 2 miles north of the dam. So we both called FWC to clarify where the hunting cut-off was and we both got conflicting answers. :dontknow: Chappy's officer said they were supposed to stop at the tower (mine said the dam). So Chappy decided he's going over to remind the hunter that he was south of the line.

Well, one hunter turned out to be six hunters and they had let off a couple of volleys the lit up the lake in front of them for a long way out  so I decided to hang back as I didn't have on my kevlar fishing vest that day. They talked a while (and were quite polite) and Chappy explained they were south of the line and that we wanted to get past them. They said go right on ahead and we did (with great alacrity)

Just after we passed them, the FWC officer Chappy spoke with called him back and said he was mistaken and that the hunting was okay to the dam. Chappy hollerd back that he was wrong and that they should keep on huntin!! That Chappy is some gentleman huh? <crazy bastich>

The day went on like that (well, there was Chappy's involuntary boat bottom inspection, but I'll let him tell it :D ) The fishing was actually pretty good and we caught a few trout, then the bite slowed and we headed in (the hunters had gone).

We met Kevin on the way back to the launch and he boated a few and I caught that strange looking speck I posted earlier. It was a good day and we had a lot of fun.
