I was/am way overdue for some winter repairs and upgrades on a few of my boats and TheKraken had a new trident15 that was in need of a 3rd eye.
We planned to spend last weekend working on boats and maybe get on the water pending conditions.
The list of projects was way beyond our skills and time frame so we inlisted the help of our good friends at the GreatWhiteKayakCompany.
SBD is a true master of the craft and we basically just kept him entertained while he worked his magic.
A day spent with friends talking kayaks, adult beverages, and that smell of marine goop and burnt plastic in the air. good times.
We also managed a little time on the water.
Conditions were nice after all the recent rains. Very little wind and only a few light showers while we were out there. The bite was slow for us but, with the help of the agents, we managed 12 standard issue LMB with a few healthier ones in the mix.
here are a few visuals of a great winter weekend

Hey, that's a cool report!  Now how are you targeting LGM's this time of year?  I want to know the water temp, depth, and what you used to coax those bass?  They look very healthy too.
Thanks,
Scott

Oh yeah spidey. The master craftsman SBD workin on your yak and you know it's gonna be a fish killin' machine. Nice bass!

during the winter, when bass are hunkered in deeper water seeking consistant temps, I like to focus on the areas that have warms springs and lots of rocks. bubbles and steam and the easiest clues.
my tactics are pretty basic.
agents, either flylined or carolina with a circle hook, put the rod in a holder behind you, then start working your artificials with your second rod.
painfully slow presentations with crawjig patterns or carolina oxblood or green punkin worms. If those presentations are to slow for you or youre getting cold, you can also take victims, and warm back up, with a ripbait.
I like using a lipless crank worked slow and deep to find fish then switch to the jig.
during this time of year the agent is the best bet for getting a beast but that will change in the spring/summer when the artificials become more productive and the agent is a waste of money, a hastle, and not nearly as much fun as the artificials.
these fish were taken on warm springs in 10-15 FoW.
hope that helps

It really was great to have Sean work on my boats. They are far from finished and Ill have many more hours in the garage but he was far more productive than my usual partners in kayak rigging.

Excellent work men.  Right on Kraken with the LMB.  I wish I could've worked it to come up.  I'm definitely in for the end of May and 1st week of July.  We may have our own cheering section for the tourney in July.

Solid report Terry, this was a great weekend hanging with friends and actually catching some fish (a miracle for me lately). We got a lot of stuff done for the boats and the resurrection of your 140 was very impressive. That boat has been beaten to a pulp over the years, but SBD brought it back.

We definitely missed you Shirk, you would have done well at CL, probably even hooked a trout somehow. And yes, I finally got the “skunk” off my new boat. Anyway, I’m ready for the May trip and the bite should be much better then.

I’m going to “try” to add one more picture, since Terry didn’t put any of his fish in the report. It’s when we were just about done and he caught that last fatty going through the docks. Good times!

thats what she said
