You might want to try a sliding sinker set up over the fixed banana weight. I've personally had better luck with it when not using the DR. It makes it a lot harder for the fish to find slack in the line that way. Just my .02

Z

With that setup, would you still use the banana weight, or a ball?

I'd go with the cannon ball type sinker. I think they perform best in the water. Even over torpedo or fish shaped weights. I know it shouldn't make sense but I always get less drag from them.

Reservation made. Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights - April 30th, May 1st and 2nd. I plan to fish Sat, Sun and Mon betweek Crescent, Odell, Waldo and any other lakes up there depending on conditions. The yurts have firewood but no electricity.

Jay

*** More info from the resort staff...

Jay,

One bunk bed--bottom is a double, the top a single; a Futon that sleeps two.  No water or electricity, but there is a wood stove; and we will supply to first two bundles of wood then they are $6.00 per bundle.

Hmmm, April 30th is my birthday!!(the NWKA site forgot about me). Getting drunk around the fire friday night and catching big macs on Saturday....I am so there!! maybe, finances permitting.

Wish i could just crash in your yurt and save some dough, but i have to bring the dogs so i'll pull my trailer up there. Your at crescent lake campground?

Here's a write-up on lake trolling for a refresher.

Roy,
I hope you can make it up to Crescent. Your dogs are always welcome. Do you have access to any firewood? My Subaru will be packed pretty full with just the basics.

Lee,
I am booked the night of the 22nd but I'm interested in fishing the 23rd. Maybe I'll leave and head directly up there after the auction finished on Saturday evening.

Jay

Hmmm, after looking at a map...7 hours of driving one way just to fish on Sunday and then drive back....just about any other weekend would work better  :(

It looks like I might be able to leave work a bit early on Friday and get to Crescent before it gets dark. Anyone think they'll make it Sat, Sun or Mon?

I see it supposed to be snowing.  Sorry but I don't do well with my bad back in snow and I don't have 4-W drive.  Any chance we can reschedule this?

For me, this window of 3 days came like the perfect storm...wife is out of town and work is looking for us to take days off as possible. I'll be there if you can come up even for a day. Look for the red Subaru Outback wagon with the NWKA stickers on the back.

Jay,

I'm probally going to be able to make it up on Friday night after work I'll probally head out of Eugene at 6:00 or 7:00.  I've been wanting to fish Odell.  Crescent sounds good also.  I'll bring some wood it looks like the temp is going to be pretty low.  I'll have to head home on sun work on Monday.
