I'm looking for tips, ideas and suggestions for kayak bottom fishing the Deception Pass area on Memorial Day weekend. I have made reservations at the state camp ground and know there is easy access to the water near by. I'm even considering doing a little fly fishing at Pass Lake when the tides aren't good. Curious, anybody else going to be fishing in that area then as well?

I've been fishing there a few times recently.  There are lots of fish along the rocks from Rosario beach up to biz point.  Also, the dropoff on the w. side of Deception island.

I agree with the tall man,

If you are staying across the pass from Bowmans Bay, I suggest you drive over and launch at Bowmans.  The trip across the mouth of the Pass from the West Beach Side over to Decption Island and on down the cliffs to Biz Point can be a real paddle if any tide is running ,not to mention all the power boat traffic on the big weekend.  Once you cross the mouth of the Pass it's not a big problem, but it's hard to paddle across with a 5kt. + tide running.

Fishing isn't what it used to be, but there are still lots of greenling and others around.

Good luck,
Gary
