Weather permitting I'm getting out there to fish local this weekend. I was thinking Lake Washington for Cutthroat and Smallies. Anyone else interested in giving it a go?

Yeah I'm game.  I need both those species.  Saturday looks to be the better day right now.

I'm game for either day.  What launch are you thinking of?

I think Lee's right so far with Saturday. We'll have to watch and see if it changes tomorrow. I was thinking of launching at this parking lot just north of Seward park. There's some decent bassin' and cutties in the area.

Current prediction is 62 degrees and 4mph winds from the East.

That launch is fine by me.

Edit:  Boo!  I can't use my brand new two pole endorsement on Lake Washington!

Sounds good to me, I've never fished that side of LW.  What time are you thinking?

I'm thinking 9AM. No use in really going early but our window of good weather may be small.

Being quite new to fishing, what would be a good lure/ bait to bring tomorrow?

Spinners, wedding rings, and Rapala's.  Weight enough to get your line down to 30-40' or a downrigger.  That would be for the Cutts, as for Bass, Zee told me crankbaits.

Forecast has improved to 63 and partly cloudy. 7mph winds.

I'll be focusing on the SMB's and using soft plastics and some suspending jerkbaits.

The YOY sockeye should be flushing into the lake now, right?  Or am I off on the timing?  Anyway, orange label herring, cutplugged, behind a 2 ounce crescent sinker.  Or appropriately sized spoons.  If you have a sinking line setup that also works great with the spoons.

Is that how you can fish for the Sockeye or just general for the lake?  Sockeye can't be retained.

The cutthroat are feeding on the YOY sockeye.  An orange label cutplug herring is the right size to mimic the YOY.  Match the hatch!!!

So how was it?  I got held up at the office and didn't make it there until noon.  I didn't see any of your vehicles at the launch on the map Zee posted, couldn't see you on the water, and none answered on CH 69 so I left. :-\

All I can say is it was a real nice paddle. Not so many schools on the FF. We trolled around Seward park and crossed over to Mercer for nada. Ended up getting back to the car at about 2. Sorry you missed us Yar.  You probably didn't find my car because I got a ride from Kykfshr in is Dodge Ram PU. I was saying to Lee, we'll definitely have our radios on next time.
