Why I know having your spot on TV is a bad idea

Last weekend was the Worlds Largest Kayak Fishing Tournament here in Jacksonville and it was hoot. No, I could not buy a fish as I was having one of those "Lucky Wali Weekends".

 No lost keys or phones, but on the way to my favorite spot that really needs to be fished in the first two hours of the day  (you know the one*), the official fish measurer and unique identifier flew out of my truck on to the freeway and took almost exactly 2 hours to find.




But that was okay as there were 40+ kayaks parked at the launch at the appointed hour (thats no exaggeration). Guess that's what happens when your spot is broadcast on national TV Before the Shallow Water Angler episode the LARGEST number of yaks I'd seen in the parking lot was 4!!!



One the other side of the coin I won the first raffle and then an embarrassingly large number of times after that at the captain's meeting the night before. Somebody told me that if you buy a bunch of tickets, you'll definitely get your moneys worth. Boy HOWDY!! (not to mention its a great way to donate to the cause) and then that was followed by a couple of more raffle prizes at the awards ceremony. But with the growing number of entrants that may not hold next year.

 I bought the tickets because my entry fees were waived!  

That's because my official shirt (a very nice long sleeved Columbia PFG shirts were mysteriously lost last year)  

The universe remains in balance.

 I bet I could spend hours trolling for new rigging ideas from that crowd.
 What a sport!
 BTW Wali....were there any bananas on yer boat?
