Just FYI, the price has dropped from 99.99 to 79.99 at Cabela's  (but only in the store)

I know there are a few of us that use these rods.

I also saw Shimano has something similar with IM6 graphite for $10-20 less.

Looks like Outdoor Emporium has them for $77-85 depending on type and length.  I have a couple heavy IM7 and IM8 casting rods and a single IM8 spinning rod which has had 6" of the tip broken off, which I cleaned up and still use.  Would be good to have a back up spinning rood too.  Thanks for the heads up that made me check ODE.

I had the same thing happen on my IM7 spinning rod.  The Med Heavy and up are pretty robust but the Med and lighter seem to snap waaaaay too easily.

Yep, GF had the Medium action 8'6" and the top end lost the tip 3 times and then the top end shattered in multiple locations between the top two eyes on a hookset.

Never had a problem with my Medium Heavy though.

Ok, I have a problem with my medium heavy now!  The tip came off Sunday afternoon when I was going to put new line on it.  I'm thinking about using super glue.  Is there something better I should use?

The rod has been really great, and the tip came off because I hit it on stuff ALL the time - it's 9 foot long!

I wouldn't use super glue. There are glue sticks at the sporting good store that you heat with a lighter then apply and stick the tip back on. Pretty easy. I've done it a couple of times.

Hot melt glue. I'm not sure why Super Glue wouldn't work, maybe the flex issue.
See ya on the water..

How about a little dab of Gorilla Glue?  But it does expand so the rod it would need to be jammed against something to keep the tip from being pushed off.  BTW - I've never used Gorilla Glue for such a thing - it was just a thought.

I've had a change of heart on these rods.  As previously mentioned, the Gf's 8'6" Medium shattered in multiple locations for seemingly no reason.  Mine lasted several months longer, but this past weekend, after having the rod for 8 or 9 months, it just shattered into 3 sections for seemingly no reason.  I don't mind if a rod breaks from me abusing it, but that wasn't the case with this rod, and it shattered when I pulled line to tie a swivel on.  I don't like unreliability.

I picked up a 9ft Medium Ugly Stick to replace it.  At $40 it's not as sensitive, but it will be way more reliable.

FYI, the Berkely AIR IM8 is 59.99 this weekend at Cabelas.  There is also a coupon online from their website for $20 off if you spend 150 or more.  Several other "salmon" deals are available as well on their flyer.
