Do you think this has prospects for a boat that would be an alright mothership/all around ocean fishing vessel/possible sixpacker?

Maybe way past the edge of being to old.  A boat like that is just a hole in the water you throw money into.

Trust me, as someone who once owned a large ocean fishing boat, stick with the yak.  You will come out ahead in so many ways.  Are you really looking for $500 fill ups (I could do two tuna/halibut trips for this, one August I had a $3500 fuel tab on the gas card :o), and $600+ a month moorage fee (yes thats what it costs to moor a 30ftr at Garibaldi :o)?  I got tired of it, sold it, and went to the yak, best salt water move I ever made.  I fish for pennies, catch almost as many fish (just no Tuna :'() and don't have all the bills and hassle connected with keeping a safe and reliable ocean sportfisher up and running.

Talk to HbH... his former boat "Intrepid" was strikingly similar.  If anything, he could let you know what kind of costs are associated with that size/style of boat.  My in-laws have a 38' and they are looking into getting rid of it since its like an albatross around their neck.  they don't even take it anywhere anymore; they just hang out on it at the pier because it costs too damn much to use.

I've been daydreaming about this charter member of the RNYC as a yak carrier/mobile fish camp for a few years. But it wouldn't work the same way up there though.

As a business, its fun to think about.  And maybe it works.

From a recreation standpoint, this piece of advice has always been a good guideline:  Rent Your Fun.
