i think the best part was when brian pulled it's ear bone out and told you how old the fish was..... the look on your face was mildly funny
As of July 12th, I am, officially,  retired.

Totally pulling your chain.  That was a quality fish and one for the ORC history books.  Nothing better than winning with literally a rare trophy rockfish!

I got the feeling that if it didn't yield at least one live worm they'd have strung me up by my paddle leash.

Even still, as a fish monger i know how many days those worms can live.

My GF is an ex Fish Monger.  She generally does the fish cleaning - I always tell her she's better at it than I am   ;)

Some last minute reminders:

- You must fill out and sign your waivers before you paddle out!
Look for me at the campground Friday evening or near the boat ramp in Depoe
Bay between ~5:30 and ~7:00.  Anyone who has not signed a waiver is not in
   the tournament.

SAFETY:

- The local charter captains would really appreciate you flying a flag when on the water.

- When heading in or out, radio your intentions to exit the harbor on Chanel 80.

- While passing under the bridge, stay as close as is safe to the side in case a vessle under power missed your call.

- Once outside the slot, immediately paddle a little south or north so that you're out of the shipping lane between the buoys and the harbor entrance.

GEAR:

If you need any last minute fishing or paddling gear, check out Coastal outfitters at 104 NE Hwy 101, Depoe Bay (Sponsors of the the ORC2010).

I'll add more if I think of anything.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  --Mark Twain

I recommend stopping in and, at the very least, thank them profusely and buy a spool of leader, jig head or other small piece of gear. Don't forget to wear a NWKA t-shirt if you have one.

Thanks Spot.  Essentially, that really sums it up here in Depoe Bay.

We're thinking of bringing clam chowder to the potluck.  There was also the option of fish taco's with fish donations.  We're short on skillets though.  Will chowder be a good fit?  Folks would need bowls and spoons.  Unfortunately it's not home made - it's Mo's.  Need to know soon as it'll take most of the day to defrost a 10# (2 gal) bag.  It occurs to me while we have an idea of how many are registered we don't have a head count for food planning purposes. Maybe I should defrost 2 bags. I've started the 2010 ORC Headcount thread http://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/index.php/topic,4811.msg50071.html#msg50071

Other than meeting up with some of you and taking folks out to local waters when they come to visit this will be both Chris the "Fish" and my selfs first NWKA event.  We're looking forward to it and, if the weather cooperates, we'll get out the bar.  Thats looking good so far.

I'm really looking forward to putting some faces to monikers so lets make this a good one.  BTW: There is NO cell service up river past about mile 3.  Make sure you have all your calls made or you have Skype.
