Hi all,

I've finally got myself a proper fishing yak and out of the inflatables.

I'm fairly new to both yak fishing and this board.  I was interested to see how many people on here are from the south sound area (near oly) and if you all ever meet up to go fish.

Thanks for this great online community!

I'm in Lacey, and usually get out at least once a week. Just shoot me a PM if you ever want to meet up.

Out on the peninsula we have a couple of real potential fishing areas.  If you fish the salmon runs in peninsula rivers during their peak seasons, you can experience some real muscle challenges by hooking a fresh coho or chinook.  You have to have your ear close to the ground to find when these runs are occurring and then put the time aside for travel and recreation.  Then, off the Westport jetty lies a wonderful rockfish potential in a couple of different spots.  Up the peninsula by Sekiu lies the Juan de Fuca Straight, which has some great accesses like the Snow Creek Fishing Resort and a couple other spots around that country.  It just takes a little research and questioning.  I asked someone the other day up in Sekiu about bank fishing.  She wouldn't tell me a thing other than to come in and buy their stuff and then she would direct a few more hints my way.  That spoiled the whole thing for me, but that's what this website's all about.
