NANOOK has covered his adventures of handline fishing on several occasions here, and it has my attention.  I'm liking the idea of not needing to deal with a rod and reel for direct bottom fishing.  Anyone else bottomfish with some form of handline?

Been looking through the worldly net for other kinds of hand lines, and ran across the "Cuban Yo Yo" style (again).  I think we talked about this one here a year or so ago.

I like the idea of being able to cast it (with practice) if the need ever where to show itself, but mostly how compact it is.  With leather or synthetic leather fingerless gloves and this, what wouldn't you be able to horse up to the surface?  Your hand(s) could work as the drag for hard fighting fish.

I like the looks of this one.  Has a raised area in the center for a good grip, and even better....it's inexpensive!  (although shipping looks kinda steap for ordering just one, ordering many for the same shipping may be a better idea) :-\

IMO The fun of fishing is the bounce and pull of the fish on the rod. Handlines are cool but you lose that aspect of fishing. To each his own though right? Anywho, down in NorCal the handline crew has been doin work for a while. For some hints you might want to check out some of their posts. They got it wired from the yak.
