Got on the water at about 6:30.  Surf was about waist height in the lee of the cape and there was barely any wind.  There was some fog, but it burned off by about 8.  Tried the north side of the cape for surf perch but couldn't fish very much since it was a friggin washing machine.

Headed out to the rock and tossed a Rapala on a light setup a few times and hooked into a hawg of a black.  Gave me a pretty fun fight on light gear!  Pulled it aboard and snapped a couple of pics (1st pic), then laid it on the hawg trough to measure and for some retarded reason, released the lip gripper to lay it on the trough without knocking it out. It looked like it was pushing 21 inches, but it then freaked out and jumped back into the water...  :angry5: :BangHead:

I headed around the south side of the rock and out to some of my usual spots.  There were plenty of rockfish hitting in around 80 to 90 feet and some were suspended at about 70 feet.  Only caught one underling and c&r'd a couple of cabs.  The current was moving me at about 1.5 mph so it was tough to hold position once hooked into a fish.  The weather was B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!!  Wind started picking up at little past ten and only got to no more than 5 mph.

Headed back in near the rock and harassed a few more rockfish; I only felt like keeping two but they're just so fun to catch!  Last fish of the day was a cab that had a gorgeous red coloring(3rd pic).  Off the water at 1pm to a fairly crowded beach.  Awesome day on the water!

Awesome day I've been watching these ocean forcasts dying to get out but I just haven't been able to find enough days off to make the trip.  I never thought I would want to live in the valley but it would sure make hitting the ocean easier.
