I went by the Ballard Locks two days ago and for the first time there were actually numbers of chinook coming through. I counted no more than 5 at any one time but they were moving through. I went out at Jeff Head  yesterday and pulled up a native coho but there were a lot of good marks showing. Richmond Beach didn't look too bad either.

The Edmonds Pier finally turned on this morning. 10 hookups, 4 landed. Too bad that one of the guys had a heart attack when his fish hit the net. From what I heard at 5 pm his prognosis is not good.
I was over fishing the Pilot to No point run this AM. 4 hookups, 1 14 lb keeper and 1 mid 20's that had the intact adipose fin that had to go back.

Pixster, myself, and a friend from work, hit the Skokomish today.  We saw two fish the whole time, and they were swimming towards the gauntlet of 15+ nets.

I pedaled out into Tramp Harbor Weds PM, no hookups but marked a lot of fish.  Friend called me Thurs Am, he said about 25 kings were caught north end of Vashon, they put 3 in the fish box.  THings are looking up----unfortunately I'm in PDX, house-sitting, yakless in PDX!!!  Will fish Vashon east side Mon AM.

No pics Zee. I'm a fisherman not a photographer.

Thursday was a good day for me but today I got the 0 for 3 collar. 3 solid strikes with line peeling out but nothing stayed stuck. I guess that's why they call it fishing, not catching.

Caught on trolled White Lightning coho killer,  Monday 8/9/10

was 18# after bleeding.  A real beast, almost spooled me, had to chase it down.  Made about a 75 yard runm ,made me think it was a
real hawg!!  65 feet down behind little triangular flasher.

Nice kallitype. How deep were you fishing?  Which flashers do you prefer for kayak trolling?

55 feet, no hits, went to 65, hit almost immediately.  I like KoneZone or the
Dee's Diamond flasher (made in Coos Bay) .  FishFlash is good too, but I use it mostly in estuaries, like
Willapa Bay, which should be getting hot for kings  any day now.

Regular flashers, including the "small" 8 inch Hotspots, have too much drag with the little 4# ball (in typical ebbtide current I like to fish)
for my little Scotty Laketroller.

Excellent work KT. That's a great trolling combo and nice and shallow. Are you still filleting your salmon tuna style?

Dunno what tuna style is, here's how I do it:

Nice serving-size pieces, and easy to do, just about zero waste.

Wow.  Looks like you have it figured out.  How far behind the flasher do you usually tie your Coho Killer?

Exactly 40 inches.  If you're fishing Gig Harbor, use something with some green in it.  When I was up at Freshwater Bay fishing with Sequim Salty, saw  A 30# king caught on a black/yellow CK.  I fished in the Arima this AM, got a 12# on a green/yellow/glo Silver Horde spoon, 3 incher.  Saw one boat with 4 keepers!!  Fish caught at 35 feet down in 60 feet of water.
Will be taking the Hobie out this evening in Tramp Harbor, wife coming along in her Revo.
