Seattle West Point launch location?

For those who have launched from West Point, where is the best launch location?  Google Earth shows parking and paved trails along the south side of the point.  That it?

Also, what parts of the area around West Point are open to salmon fishing?  From the WA regs it appears you must stay basically west of the point.  Seems like this restricts one to working the deep water. 

Shilshole Bay Closure: July 1-Aug. 31: waters of Shilshole Bay southeast of a line from Meadow Point to West Point CLOSED to fishing for SALMON.

Elliott Bay Closure: Waters of Elliott Bay east of a line from West Point to Alki Point: c) Aug. 9-Aug. 31: CLOSED to fishing for SALMON. d) Sept.1-June 30: same rules as Marine Area 10 - Entire Area.

I may be confusing this, but I launch a lot from "west Seattle" and I know a ton of sites to launch from there. Are you launching in West Seattle?

West Point is the tip of Magnolia where the sewage treatment plant is.  Alki Point is the south limit of "greater" Elliot Bay and West Point is the north limit.
