OK here it is my sink with all my add on goodies. :-\
boxofrain do you think this is ok for fishing out of Brookings  ???
coosbayyaker said that sunset would be good but i would like to try brookings because it's closer to me.
Some of the things that I done is add a bilge pump with a switch behind the top of the seat.
Outriggers that ride about 3" out of the water when fully loaded so there is no drag but i wont roll the yak unless a big
wave hits. :o Have 2 batterys. one is for the FF the other one is for the bilge pump. Did a test run on the bilge batt.
This is a 350gal per hour pump and it ran it for 2 hours and was still going strong.
Put a skirt to help with water spray coming in and might help with water really pooring in.
Got a fish bag that slides down between my legs. Don't no if I need a cup for this. :-\
Have a lot of pool noodles in the yak. The only thing that I don't show is my spash jacket and wadders.
So this is what I had to do until I can get my SOT. So do I make sure my WILL is up tp date. >:D
Hope the pictures come out ???
coosbayyaker what is the BB you talked about? I'm trying to use the attach: to post the pictures.
Need what ever info. you guys can give.

ya kno, thats some real nice back yard engineering on some of your mods.

what makes you think it's not worthy of a surf launch? i kind of remember one of our particpants at ORC '08 @PC using a similar boat about 12 ft long. and he did really well launching and landing.

Are your pictures in the NWKA gallery?

if so, below the picture is a line of code called the "BB code". You copy that and paste it into a post.I'm sure there is more ways to do it, that's how i do it.

I see your pictures. so what's the problem?

I don't see why you can't fish that wherever you want to, depending on conditions. Just Do It!
See ya on the water..

coosbayyaker: My pictures are not on the NWKA gallery. I used my wifes camera and she downloaded it to
MY PICTURES site on our computer. the attach: would only let me put 8 pictures on and when I tried to do a preview it didn't show the pictures. The only reason I was asking the ? on my SINK is that just about everybody
has a SOT to go out in the ocean. But now I'm feeling a little bit better about taking it out where the big boys go. ;D
WR: The outriggers might be a problem going threw the surf getting fliped around if a wave hit at a wrong angle. I don't know how strong the plastic is if a wave hit the outriggers. I have 2" washers under the wood mount bolts.I'd hate to have a hole ripped in it if my mounting didn't hold. It would have to be really small waves to try it. :-\
Here is acouple more pictures that I couldn't put on before.

Dude, ya think you could cram a few more things on your boat?

You have a bulkhead, not sure why you need pool noodles. They are not going to help you when you fill the cockpit with water. the new pungo 140's have bulkheads front and back. pool noodles are just going to take up space for no reason. They will maybe displace 2 pounds of water, but aren't going to stop the other 800 pounds from making recovery from capsize just about impossible, as your boat is going to float stern up bow down. Trying to lift that 800 pound bow our of the water to drain it is going to be next to impossible. Trust me, I've tried. I have a template for a front bulkhead for the pungo 140. I would highly recommend installing one. It's the only way the boat will float on the surface and be manageable in the event of capsize. PM me if you want it.

That is a flatwater recreation kayak. I'm not saying you can't use it on the ocean. but because the cockpit is huge and your knees are not under the deck, you can't control the rock and the roll as effectively as a sea kayak with a deck over your legs. You will just be sitting in it at the mercy of the waves rather than wearing it and controlling it.

And yes, Rods sticking up in the air, loose gear etc. is all going to be broken or float away WHEN you capsize that boat coming in through the surf because you have no thigh hooks. Launching is easy. Coming back not so much.

Never ask a sit on top guy about closed deck boats......They don't get it, and that's the reason they're in a SOT in the first place :) (nothing personal)

The more crap you pile up on the back deck, the less stable you will become. You have a V-multichine hull on that thing, and it's not a flat-hulled dock/platform like a SOT. Raising your center of gravity like that is going to get you.

Hear me now believe me later. Either way it will be entertaining >:D I'm sure I'll hear plenty of argument, but don't waste your breath. What I say is correct.

Yea my son wanted to know where the cocktail waitress was going to sit ???
I have no intention of doing surf launching with this yak. :( Only launch ramps. ;D
I know I have to pick my days when I go out and come in when the wind starts to pick up. I'll be just going outside the harbor so I can get back in as soon as things start to pick up. The first time I go out will be a test run to see if my outriggers will do what I hope they will do.I might not even get out of the harbor before I decide it's not going to work. :( Just want to do a little rock fishing in the ocean.
Being on a fixed income I have to use what I got. :embarassed: Saving for a OB. :banjo: NANOOK I was kind of waiting on your input knowing you use a sea Kayak. Thanks for your info.

I think if you are not launching off the beach you will be totally fine. I would put a float bag up front, and then you are pretty much set. I would just try and keep the stuff on deck to a minimum to keep the CG low

I'm all for using what you got. I don't think you will have problems with anything other than getting back to the beach. But if you are avoiding surf, I say go for it.

Thanks Jason.
One of the things that bothers me is the outrigger mounts. I have 3 bolts on each mount with 2" washers on the inside. When you take the outriggers and twist them a little like if a wave hit just one of the floats. I see the plastic move under the stress. I wonder how much stress the
plastic can take before it rips a hole or will the outriggers break before this will happen.  :-\

Probably not all that much. I like to use the 1/2 inch plastic cutting boards from the grocery store for backing on stuff like that, but really a nice flat/stiff something or other to distribute the stress over a greater area will help.

I would think a surf wipe out would potentially put enough torque on it to rip it out, but it would probably be OK otherwise. I would make sure youre with a buddy when you test it just in case there's issues.

Where did you get that fish bag? I need one! Mine is 2-d and it's a pain trying to force a fish down in. I like the 3-d option.

The fish bag was the one that ravdakot  posted about. "affordable fish bag"
http://www.baitnhook.net/precisionpak-yakcatch-2-medium-fish-bag---32-long.aspx
The cost after the shipping cost was $40.95
The dealer is on the east coast and the cheap shipping comes overland by truck which took a while. You might want to upgrade the shipping.

If you want a trip out for bottom fishing watch the coos bay forecast and plan a trip here. I'll go out with ya at Sunset bay and Watch your back. Way easy launch for any kind of small craft.
See ya on the water..

Sounds good what days are you good for? I'm retried so I'm good for just about any time now. A few months ago boxofrain made the same offer but my wife as had 3 hip surgerys and the whole summer has been taking care of her. I've been up to applegate lake only a couple of times when somebody was here to watch her. I need to go up there and learn to use my GPS. I've got a fishing license but do I need some kind of new tag to go with it?
Thanks Ron

Thanks coosbayyaker. If you don't mind Fishermanjames which is a newbe to the ocean to, would like to come and try sunset bay.
He has a OC. We both have the invasive species permit. Have to work it out with James since he works during the weekdays.
