It figures that as soon as I give a glowing review and update on this radio, it goes out. ::)

As usual, it involved user error/abuse, but what'd you expect? The radio sat in my gear bag/drift chute with sand and salty water for a couple of days. I guess JIS 7 really means 7 hours and it got a bit water logged and had some condensation looking water on the inside of the screen. Surprisingly, the battery was not damaged and took a charge.  I called Lowrance for an RMA, and after an even more surprisingly short wait, I got it.

I sent it in last Friday and got a shipping notice yesterday (6 days!!)  that suggests that my replacement unit will be here next Wednesday.

We'll see,,,

JIS 7 is 30 minutes immersion up to 1 meter.  That means it is water resistant, not water proof.

I don't think there are many items that are DAMHIK resistant.

But if companys wanted such resistance, i know the perfect tester.... ;)
See ya on the water..

The new unit arrived today as promised. The instructions said to send only the radio, which I did. Much to my pleasant surprise, they sent a whole new system. So now I've got two chargers and two batteries! :icon_cheers:
