Howdy, Northern Brothers.  I got the 'nook monkey off my back on my 20th trolling trip of the year - it's been a long ocean salmon drought for me (since '07).  I wanted to share my video here as it does a pretty good job of capturing the emotions that can erupt after such a drought...

See you at Gimme Shelter

Holy cow!  I almost blew diet coke out my nose when I watched you try to "lip" a salmon!  Hows the thumb?  Cool video!

Count me in that club..  :spittake:

If I'm not mistaken you have to still use barbless hooks in CA right? Just point your rod tip at the coho and it should have no problem throwing the hooks. Could always try a dehooker.

I'll keep the plyers closer by next time...  I just wanted to see if I could "lip" it - I've been successful on a smaller Coho in the river, and I don't mind a little blood flowing.   ;D

Catching anything out of the ocean in my kayak is a goal.  That was super inspirational.  What a great video!!  Spirituality has many forms!   ;D
