A friend of mine invited me to launch from his house on Lagoon Point. I launched about an hour after low tide and decided to drag a plug cut herring to target silvers. My strategy paid off as I got to fight a great battle with jumps, hide and seek under the boat, and the ever present run under the other side of the yak :o
I fought the fun battle for about 10 min and finally netted a 7lb silver. That was the only fish I caught during the slack tide so I decided to head in for lunch. My friend had been shore fishing and caught and released a multitude of pinks.
After a few hours we went out in the yak to target pinks. I'll bet we caught and released at least 20 pinks between the two of us. Even got to watch one take a pink buzz bomb right under the boat.
This area seems to be flush with fish 2 hours each side of slack tide. Its incredible to actually see a cloud of pinks under your boat. Most of the fish are caught by the 100's of shore fisherpersons as the run gets pushed up against the shore as the tide pushes through.
The shore is mostly private homes but there is a public beach access area to the north and south of the lagoon. I haven't checked these areas out as I launched from a private residence. I understand that the immediate area at the public access is open to everyone (hence the word public) but the police have been known to remove anyone straying up the beach.
With a yak you shouldn't have to worry about room on the shore. It does get crowded as the masses line up to claim there spots along the beach.

This coming Saturday is the salmon derby out at Lagoon point. I hear its from 9am to 1 pm and high tide is at 8:25am. I will probably go out there on Sunday to catch the high tide around 9:30am.

Those that plan the battle rarely battle the plan, unless it involves fishing!
