I'm going to be heading back to Lake Chelan in two weeks.  Any reason why saltwater gulp grubs (white glow 6") wouldn't work for mackinaw?

I remember a report a few years back frm polepole and pisco sicko who used small jigs and glow grubs to pick up some Macks there.

If this contraption worked on Chelan, I'm pretty sure what you have in mind will.  Yes, it did indeed work.

Yeah the grub shape wasn't really what I was unsure about.  I just wanted to be sure 6" isn't too big, and that the "specially formulated for saltwater" flavor wouldn't be a bad thing.

It's not uncommon to catch lakers with 8-12" kokanees in their bellies.  In terms of scent, I tip my jigs with bait when fishing lakers.   Herring strips or squid strips have worked well.  And sometimes I top it off with even more scent such as crawfish, anise, krill, etc.  In fact, I have no idea what would NOT work.

Oh no, I have enough of that problem.  I've been fishing for chinook more times than I want to count.  Haven't landed a damned thing.  I had one on the line for 2-3 minutes in the Puyallup, and one on the line for about 30 seconds on the Nisqually.  I haven't caught a decent fish really since the ORC.  I guess I could count rockfish but I can't keep them in the sound.  Oh and dogfish don't count.

Can't leave out the fact that my last trip to Chelan brought me home completely empty handed as well.

You've actually had BETTER luck than I have of late.   :-\

Yea, i'm not complaining for sure, this has been my best Salmon year ever. My trout is pretty sad. Maybe this trip you'll get the skunk off...

Back on topic...

I would bet that the Gulp would help solicit takes.

I usually fish the lower basin from the state park to the Manson area.

Good luck.

Thanks PS.  I talked to Anton Jones and he told me to target the waters right off the state park in 140 to 160 foot depths.

The Gulp might be a moot issue.  I ordered my stuff from Cabela's (Thanks Zee on the sale heads-up!), but it hasn't even shipped yet.

Ugh.

Yeah, it bums me out how Cabela's sits on the orders for several days.  They really need to work on their order processing efficiency.
