Thought y'all might be interested in this photo.  Lake Oswego is pretty shallow in general...and they've just used some huge pumps to draw it down 24 feet to finish a huge new sewer pipeline right down the middle.  I've caught a bunch of panfish in there which makes me curious -  What do you think happens to the fish in a lake that is drawn down to probably 1/6th of its original size?  Do they congregate?  Or die? (I have seen no dead fish.) Or get sucked out into the Willamette with all the water?  Maybe its a good time to fish the Willie below sucker creek?

When I was younger my god father lived on Lake O.  He was an avid bass fisherman and when they drew the lake down he would go out and take as many photos as he could.  He had a great "photo album" of the lake that he used to find the fish holding structure when the water was back up.  He passed of cancer when I was in High School and not only do I miss fishing with him but also having access to a cool bass lake.

Looking at those docks reminds me how we used to save our christmas tree each year to anchor under his dock to attract panfish.

Lil bit of both... some of the larger fish stick around in what remains.  As oxygen levels drop then they get desperate...  A lot of fish ended up in the Willy, which created some great fishing a couple weeks ago while they were draining. There was a TON of bait balled up...

Legend confirned..Now the story will be "They USED to have Sturgeon here"

Man, Sturgeon are every where here. I heard big ones travel all the way up to and past the town of Bridge on the Coquille River. The river gets pretty small and shallow, hard to imagine a 100+ pound fish up there.
See ya on the water..

This quote really gets me.....

“In the months and years of negotiations, this issue was not raised,” Heisler said. “It was one of those live-and-learn things.”

They have dinos up in Wauna Lake up by Bridge of the Gods. Back when it was a logging camp, the boys would catch them in the river and bring them back to a pen in the lake for the cook to pick them fresh. A flood busted the pen and now they populate the lake. It was probably a similar situation in Lake O.

Sad, all that money and planning, and nobody thought about protecting the actual residents of the lake.
