First a little about me- I have grown up fishing the northwest for most of my life.  Ocean, lakes, rivers, mud-puddles I am game.  A few years back I met my future wife who had grown up in Hawaii and had a chance to try kayaking on a couple of our visits to the islands.  We own a 20 Hewescraft that we do most of our fishing from but the thought of top water jigging kokanee, crabbing or maybe even catching a salmon from a kayak really intrigued us.  Yesterday we finally bit the bullet and ordered an Ocean Kayak Malibu Two XL Angler.   Should be at the door in a few weeks.

Looking forward to getting it outfitted and practicing with it at the local Salem pond.  Then starting the countdown to April for some of the best top water jigging for Kokanee.

To add some relevant fishing information: Yaquina has been good to me the last few weeks but slow for most.  Marker 25-31 trolled slow with 3-5 oz of lead on a 12" dropper with an 8' leader.  Plug cut purple label herring has been the bait of choice.  Lots of coho in the area so check before bonking. If all goes well next fall I will get my first salmon from a yak in this area.

I have one of those OK Malibu Two XL Anglers and find it kinda fun really.
It's not a speed boat, but it's really stable, gets around great, and offers you a variety of seating positions.
My 9 year old son and I spent a week along the Oregon coast hitting some of the lakes with it this summer.

Should work out great for you and your wife.

Welcome aboard Bobalito!

A couple of quick searches on this site should give you a winter full of ideas for rigging your new toy.  I can't wait to see your reports.
