This is a late report but I just came across my photo from the day.  I put in at Rock Creek Cove and made my way under the road and railroad bridge out into the Columbia River.  I was surprised how shallow the river stayed in this section.  Fish finder showed 4 feet the majority of the time.  The only luck I had was one small mouth bass but she was a beauty and I now remember why I love catching them.  What a good fighter.

I was casting right up into the rip rap rocks that come off the railroad bed.  The beetle spin hit the rocks and bounced into the water.  Before I could close the bale on my spinning reel the line went sideways.  I closed up quickly and tried setting the hook but completely missed and saw my lure come out of the water.  As I was saying several bad words I saw the fish come flying back up and nail the lure again.  It was just as fun to watch as it was to catch.  Beautiful fish based on my bass catching experience.  I released her to hopefully find more at this spot again someday soon.

SMB's are the best! A good fight for sure. Nice catch and thanks for the photo.

Rock Creek Cove is just on the north side of SR-14 a few miles east of Bridge of the Gods and west of Stevenson.  It's a nice little spot but I haven't done all that great the two times I have gone.  Basically I fish per trip.  I probably just need some better technique!
