NWKA will represent for the 4th year at the 2011 Seattle Boat Show (Quest Field Event Center) and we will have three seminars. There will be a "Kayak Fishing 101" class but new to 2011 is a "NW Kayak Fishing Skills" class. This class covers specific equipment, skills, and strategies to catch some of the NW's most prized gamefish (Chinook, Coho, Chum, and Pink salmon also Lingcod, Rockfish, and Sturgeon).
I will be leading each class and most should fit right after work. If you have some time feel free to come on down and check them out. Seminars are free but you will need to get in the door.

TICKETS ON SALE STARTING DECEMBER 1
Adults: $12; Youth (11-17): $5;
Special 5-day Big Show pass: $24
Kids 10 & under: Free

P.S. I usually get some free passes for the show and once I figure how many I get they will be free the first to PM me.

Tuesday Jan 25th
7 PM "Kayak Fishing 101"

Wednesday Jan 26th
4 PM "NW Kayak Fishing Skills"

Thursday Jan 27th
7 PM "NW Kayak Fishing Skills"

Also on display at the Hobiecats NW and Ballard Inflatable booths will be the 2011 line of Hobie kayaks. There may be some deals on 2010 demos so could be a chance to get a Hobie on the cheap.

YOU ARE KILLING ME!!
Those dates are right over the top of the anual IPHC. This year it will be in Victoria so it means I will most like be there the entire time 25-28th ......
Hopefully I can giggle something and be able to free out one of the nights on either end.

Sounds fun. Let me know when you are going to talk Rockfish/Lingcod techniques.

Also, I'd be down for a free pass.

BTW, when do you want to go snowboarding? I go every weekend day as long as it isn't raining and a few weekday powder days too.

While I think both would be interesting for you I think the Skills class would be most beneficial. If you find some wiggle room on Thursday do it!

Ling, rock tech will be in the NW Skills classes. Got you down for a pass and I'll be ready for snowboarding very soon!

...after which, I will be leading a seminar entitled "Trash Can Slam! - How to catch Spotted Ratfish, Pacific Staghorn Sculpin, Monkeyface Prickleback and Spiny Dogfish"

I'd be game to try PP up here .... never heard of it before NCKA. I am thinking I would wand more than a wet suit. Might be a good reason to dig out the neoprene waders from the way back of the garage.

Hell yeah!!!  I remember catching one off the beech at D-Pass when I was a kid.  Where that small reef is.  It freaked me out and I didn't even want to touch it.

Roll forward 30 years ... pokepoling on the San Mateo coast, they still freak me out.  But they sure do taste good, greenling like in texture, and a more full flavor.

My wife noticed earlier this evening that Groupon has 5 day passes to the boat show available for 12$ for the next 3 days, and I figured I'd pass it on for anyone interested.
