hello every one i am coming in december from san diego california.  i am not a californian just from montana active duty in the navy.  being stationed up in bangor for another tour.  got into kayak fishing last year and i am hooked.  i have a tarpon 160 a couple of years old rigged out.  caught yellow tail tuna, barracuda and lots of calico bass from it.  looking forward to catching some salmon or other species up in washington.  going to be living rite on the wate of puget sound so when ever i will be out.  looking forward to everyone on the site and meeting you all.  hope to get together and go fishing.  hope to try out some fresh water to.  not to much in southern california except for lots of bass.  want to get back into trout fishing with my kids.  thanks for all reading and leaving comments.  hope to be fishing with you all soon.

Howdy fishcandy!

Thinking of a DR (downrigger)? We've got a guy that's been running his cable through an aft scupper hole on his T120. A short leash lets him bring the ball up over the side.

Good Luck.

Interesting...?

Where is the downrigger located?

I have been running a Scotty Laketroller located just aft of my seat and it works well.  If I keep the cable running right next to the hull it does not cause any problems.

I like being able to see everything: weight, release clip, and line from pole to hook so I can make sure nothing is fouled before dropping down.  With all the care I take to keep things straight, I often find some small problem on my last check: twist in the release clip line which causes the leader line to wrap around the clip, or some kelp has caught on the flasher or lure.

I would love to see this system and hear some of the reasons why it's cool ;D

Jesse, you must have missed show and tell up at Moutcha.  It was Matt_k with the fancy downrigger setup.

fishcandy, welcome to the site, or as Mooch would say, welcome to the madness.

Yah, it was Matt-K, and the point of the set-up was to avoid any off-center drag. I haven't tried it, but Matt seemed happy with his system.
