George Rogers 3-18 or 3-19

I'm thinking about trying a little Sturgeon action Friday afternoon for the first time if I can get off work early enough. Or Saturday morning if Friday doesn't work. I was hoping for some help with the following questions:

1-With the river level will it be safe to anchor up and do some fishing?
2-Any suggestions on depth or a specific area around the park?
3-What's the minimum amount of weight I should drop?
4-Any other suggestions?

 I do realize it is closed for retention. Thanks in advance!

The water level may be a bit high.  If you stay the the west side of the river you can anchor outside the current.  You may spin around in the eddies a bit, but there are sturgeon there, just look for the dropoffs.  Depending on the current I have been using between 4 and 8 oz. 
Be careful anchoring your  SINK, if the anchor trolley is mounted too high, it can get a bit tippy.  That said make sure that your anchor quick release works well and that you are familiar using it.  Otherwise have fun and good luck.   

As someone who grew up on the Willamette and fished it for the last 25 years I would skip it until the water drops.  High water is nothing to mess with and not the best of conditions for a first trip.  The sturgeon will be there next week when the water drops.
