Living in Alaska, Pool noodles are hard to come by.  I seem to find a few during the summer that I use to wrap pre tied leaders on.  I want to do the foam and water transducer install but can't seem to track down any closed cell foam.  The ones I do have are too small in diameter.

I can order sheets of it but if that's the case, i might as well order the humingbird kit which I may still do.

Can anyone clue me in on another cheap closed cell foam "substitute" that I can pick up instead of pool noodles that will work for the transducer install.

Maybe I am just brain dead.

High density closed cell foam is pretty standard packaging on appliances and electronics.  You might be able to find some at retail outlets.  It'll just be trash to them.

If you don't find any I can send you some for the cost of shipping.

Ya find stuff in the oddest places.  After running around to several hardware stores and striking out, the wife is looking around some store and sees this!  Perfect!  $7 bucks marked down from $30!  She was a tad embarrassed to buy it but what the heck. Pool accessories are hard to come by in Alaska during the winter!

That's pretty funny.  Next time you're looking, grab a garden kneeling pad.

I was too excited to get the foam I didn't even notice.  I took the foam, cut it up and immediately went for the install.  I didn't even know there was a DVD in the box until the previous post.

At least that's my story.  It makes it harder when the reference scale I use is blank DVD's...busted, rippin B grade excercise videos! Haha.  I may just name my kayak after one of the two fine women on the box and DVD!

Im sad to admit that I use a foam roller. It looks girlie but it got rid of my knee pain. I roll on my IT band that goes the length of the thigh. You guys should give one a shot. Worth every penny!

Really now? I only cut 2 inches off it. I can still use it.  Maybe it'll give me an excuse to watch the video!
