(1) Does anyone know a photographer and or someone with a powerboat that could zip around and take pictures during the contest? I know we all do it ourselves and some of the photos are really good but if your focused on the fishing you don't always get the subtle shots. I wouldn't even be adverse to buying some of the photos if there good. They do this at Mountain Bike Races and get some really great shots. I wouldn't mind contacting a few photographers if I could tell them they had a boat to get around in.

Neat idea... What you need is someone on a jet ski with a camera.

I spoke with Dan, the owner of Ossie's Suf Shop today and it turns out that this is a service that they provide.  The catch is the price.  $150 per hour with a 2hr min.  I don't believe that we'll be able to cover that with the event budget but if everyone wants to chip in, it may be doable.

BTW:  In case any of you are too whimpy to sleep in a tent or trailer, Ossie's vacation condo overlooking Depoe Bay is available for that weekend.  http://ossiessurfshop.com/html/shop/index.php?productID=116

Get fungunnin, the facility he described is at the launch.  The cleaning area at the campground is not as nice, but still workable.

I'll handle Logistics again.
- Notify CG, Harbor Master, local charter co's, local business donations, ....

Can you see about securing us a spot to setup the fish measuring station for the girls?
If we can't do it in the parking lot near the launch somewhere, we may have to do it up near the park that is past the fish cleaning station.
We'll just have to be diligent with how many kayaks we have tied up to the dock at any one time.
I'd hate to get the other ramp users in a fizz over our shin ding.

Anyone know a good gluten free batter for frying fish?  SLF is glutarded.

The easy way would be a light egg wash and the either corn meal or a rice flour flake. It would be a thin breading but should have a good crunch.

You can always mix your own.

From gluten free cooking section of About.com

Quote
Ingredients:
1 cup all purpose gluten-free all purpose flour mix (I used Bob's Red Mill All Purpose GF Baking Mix)
1 cup cornstarch
1 teaspoon GF baking powder
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon cayenne powder
1 teaspoon GF garlic powder
1 teaspoon GF onion powder
1 teaspoon salt
12 ounce bottle of gluten-free beer OR 12 ounces of club soda

Preparation:
Combine cornstarch, gluten-free all purpose flour, baking powder, cayenne pepper, sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper in a large, plastic zip lock bag.
Shake the bag to thoroughly mix the dry ingredients. Pour this mixture into a medium sized bowl.
Add gluten-free beer or club soda and mix until the batter is smooth and not too thick or too thin. Add more liquid if the batter is too thick.
Dip fish fillets in batter, making sure both sides are coated. Hold above the bowl to let excess batter drip off.
Fry in hot oil until golden brown.

I fried up a small batch of fish at last years ORC naked.  The only thing added to the fish prior to the hot tub was some basic seasoning.
Damn good!

I plan to fry up more that way this year if we have the fish to do so.

That didn't didn't come out right.  Let me rephrase that.  ::)

The fish was nekked (no batter), I was dressed.   ;D

There will be plenty of room for a weigh in station.  Could even be located down by the dock.

There is also room on the inside of the dock (not on the outside where big boats tie up) where we can tie up a bunch of yaks.  Definitely don't block the ramp and go to the weigh in.  We did pretty good on that last year and I heard no complaints following the event.

A friend of mine uses GF pancake batter, I think it is the Red Hill brand - he does fish and Abalone with it. A but sweet, tho...
