Dayng Nate, yours is a monster too!  That thing is gargantuan!!

Freaking crazy.  I didn't catch one cabby when we were out there on Sunday.  I could be wrong, but I think Jammer was the only one who pulled one in that day.

Sorry guys I forgot the camera at home so no fish pics from the whole trip.  The big Cabbies we found were in on the first reef about halfway between the cape and the rock.  They were only in about 30 to 40 feet of water.  I also had a hitchhiker ling that could've been pushing the 40 inch mark from that same reef.  It came to the surface and laid there nice and calm but unfortunately my spare "fish getter" game clip had a giant cabbie on it. :BangHead:  It dove back down and I got organised but when he came back up he let go.

I imagine sometimes what happens is they get into such a feeding frenzy that they eat them so fast they don't have time to crush them.
I know this may sound a little crazy, but I'm wondering if there would be anyway to re-use the crabs that are in the stomachs on a future rock-fishing trip. Anyone have any interesting ideas on how to re-use?

Also, after reading the newer post on halibut fishing with the halibut rigs and using the medium sized fake crabs that are attached to the jig heads. This may also work. These small crabs haven't been dead very long, so still may be somewhat fresh. If you sprayed em off with fresh water, bag em, freeze em and possibly re-use slathered in crab scent for the hungry halibut too.
Just throwing it out there.

I wouldn't want to try and explain where I got the undersized crabs to a LEO.
If they were red rock crab, you'd be fine.

I''m thinking if you did keep a small 3"-5" rock crab from a crabbing trip and made a silicon mold from it, you could then make your own soft plastic ones from the mold.

I knew it sounded too good to be true. I didn't even think about the part that baby crabs are still a legal game shellfish. Thanks for pointing out the obvious.

I did notice the first reef between the point and the rock, but just cruised on past towards the rock. Sounds like some serious "Cabbie Country". I love PC!!! This was my first time out to PCand cant wait to get back. It was nice having a few other peeps(rawkfish, Paddler and Tex) there to show me around a bit..
Cheers!
