Fished the Gilbert river today and couldn't keep them off the hook!  I started the day with a 30" walleye that hit while I was retrieving my line to check the bait.  My biggest walleye ever!  I've never caught one in the Gilbert before and think this was probably a stray.  I'll take it though!  The sturgeon fishing was incredible!  I stopped counting after 12 and probably ended up with more than 20.  Two were legals at 39 and 43.  The rest were 18" or better with the bulk of them in the 30 -35" range.  Best day of sturgeon in my life!   To bad there's currently no retention permitted  :( !

There's a bank fishing area called the "big eddie" and I was fishing about 300 yards towards the mouth of the Gilbert from there in about 17 feet of water.  I will be there again tomorrow if anyone wants to drop in.  Bright orange Hobie outback.

Met a couple of other Hobie guys at the Gilbert river boat launch that were headed out after Springers, Bob-O and John if my memory serves. Hope they did well!

Way to slay them.  The sturgeon seem to be very active lately.  I saw fish ranging from a few inches up to several feet jumping the last few days.

Got out again and fished the Gilbert.  Another incredible day!  A new personal best for me at around 6ft.  He bailed completely out of the water 4 times and drug me about 250 yds. before I got him to the yak!  I probably landed more than 25 today and not one was under 30".  Gave myself a serious rats nest on my first cast today. No more troubles after i got that out of the way. Changed leader and retied everything twice during the day.  Those fish are rough on tackle!  I'm on vacation right now so the wife is giving me a little slack and keeping the honey-do list short.  Think I'll hit it again tomorrow!!

I have to figure out how to do it!!(load pics that is)  Technology and I are only recently becoming acquainted!  My 10 year old Macintosh may not be able to handle it.  I know it all sounds like excuses right now but one day i will master the upload or whatever it's called!  I decided to stay home today.  Sore fingers, wrists, arms, and shoulders.  I have plenty of memories in my mind to hold me over till tomorrow!  I'll take my daughters camera and maybe she can help me post to the site so I can silence those of the skeptical mind!

Went back out on May 2nd and caught nada.  Well, I don't think I'll count the one sculpin I caught.  5 oz. of weight to catch a 3 oz. fish on a 4/0 hook!!  Had a blast last week though!
