As promised here is my launch site.  The green oval is a hand crank and there is one at the top as well.  The second one is standing where the red line is.  Third one is the rocks at the bottom.  Fourth is where the boulders are and the last is looking back up, the worst part is hauling the tub up that section.  I have done it many times and with two people it would not be that bad.

Good info, thanks for posting that.  That's where I thought you were referring to.

I haven't been out for springers on my yak, but would be interested if you don't mind a newbie in your midst

I have a 10'6" 10-25# rod rated for pulling plugs (has a sensitive tip and nice backbone, but its mostly used as a float rod from the bank and is pretty long) and a few 9'/8' 8-12# MED action IM8s that I mainly use to drift for steelhead.

do you guys think the 8-12# IM8 can handle the weight needed to troll and if so, do you think a 10'6" rod is way too big for a yak?

I would think the 10'6" would be the better bet with a 6 oz cannon ball. It might be a little long but I think you won't have too many issues making it work.

Agree with Noahk, the 10' 6" would be my choice from what you listed.  The weight, or diver, would not allow you to see the nibbles on a cut plug with the lighter rods due to the load.

Too tired to elaborate at the moment.

Need to hydrate and grab some vacuum bags....   ;D

OK, after much chatting, we've decided to launch from the Fire Station Dock under the Hawthorn bridge on the east side of the river.  There's paid parking right by the dock.
Launch time is between 8 and 9 in the morning.  Nothing formal.  If you need help with the launch, hail someone on Channel 69 or flag someone down.  Estimated range of fishing is from the Steel Bridge to the North and Ross Island Bridge to the South.

See Y'all there!

Anyone know if the Alder Creek place there has free parking for people using the dock there?

Yes Jeff, there is indeed free parking above the Alder Creek dock.  Judging by the signs, the south lot is private (though easily accessible) and the north lot is public.
I think I prefer the Firehouse dock though.  It's in better shape and the ramp is way easier to climb.

It was great seeing y'all out there today!
