That was fun ya'll!

There were plenty of fish caught today, just none in our boats.  There was a big stellar hanging around.  Noah and I saw him early munching on a springer for breakfast.  Later in the day I was watching another PB'er hook up.  They had the fish alongside the boat but it made a run.  The next time they saw the fish, it was in the mouth of that stellar about 30 yards from their boat.  They started chasing it down river, playing tug-o-war with it.  I caught a little of it on video but haven't looked at it yet.  My guess is the stellar won.

It was awesome seeing everyone out there! Wali brought some doughnuts and MAN! ...They hit the spot!

This is one of the best pics I've taken in a while.  I can't help but crack a big smile when I see it.

Cheers!

Looks like you had a good day.  I saw salmon yakers at George Rodgers, Sellwood, and across from  the tip of Ross Island today.    Four different guys and I didn't even make it down to you guys!!

Speaking of sea lions.. I was fishing today below the railroad bridge above elk rock island, the guys next to me say "look at that som-bitch".  A sea lion right below our boats had a nice nook and was just swimming around with it in it mouth, holding it out of the water like a lab with a tennis ball.  It kept this up for at least 5 minutes, fish all the way out of the water, it would drop it, dive, come up with it in its mouth and start the parade all over again.   So these guys can't take it any more (its only like 20 yrds away) and crank up their gear and give chase, one guy on the kicker one in the bow with a net. I almost soiled myself when after a few ducks and a couple dodges the sea lion dropped the fish and they net it!  A nice 20+ fish minus most of its head.  They tagged it and headed in as it was the last fish they needed for their limit.  Score one for the fishermen!

It was wonderful to put a face to a name today, even though I was on my other 'get away sticks powered' mover at the time.  I may have been one of the ones by the tip of RI you saw PP.  As for the sea thief, I like to have several nice rocks on my tub just for that reason.  Granted it is probably illegal to actually hit one, and who in their right mind (in a yak) would want to piss one off but you can chase them away.

Dude that's awesome! I was also working upstream of Ross Island and missed the donuts! Bummer but I did get to meet Wally, Jerry, and Squidgirl.

It was great meeting you all,  wish the bite would have been better,  but any sunny day out fishing this time year, bite or no bite is a great day on the water.  Thinking I may have to come down from north of the border and invade the Willy with you guys more often.  See you soon
