So my first springer I chalked up to luck as I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing when I caught her.  My second springer however was all about skill, and some luck too.  This fish was caught on a prawn spinner using some of the techniques Jammer showed me.   I was trolling at 13 pulls in the middle of the river, when she hit.  She put up a short fight with 2 daring escapes from my net, one when I was lifting it.  After getting her on board I managed to hit myself in the leg several times while trying to bonk her.  In the end I just slit her gills to get her to stop thrashing.  She is my personal best, aka largest fish out of a kayak at a whopping 39 inches.  One day I am going to break 40 inches.  I also caught my first sculpin, yay.
Thanks again Jammer, I'd probably still be trolling herring way to fast if it wasn't for you.

What a hog.  I thought that was you out there today.  I yelled but you were on your phone, probably telling somebody to fire up the smoker.

Nice work 39 inches is a pretty big springer.

By the way springer fun does end.  Over here it ends the very day it finally started.  May 1st we finally had fishable numbers and that was the last day.  It's ok though, if the Umatilla river level drops my Springer fun will begin.

Great looking fish! But I just brought out the magnifying lens and don't see any sea lice. What gives? All kiddin' aside, I wish I could give your river a shot but it's not in the cards.Anyway, I'm going to see if I can snag some TP & waste by-products in our local stream. Way to slay 'em.

Very nice Nate!! Did you get it down on the Willamette or in the Mult. Chanel? I am hoping to get out tomorrow in the afternoon and stay through the tide change in the evening. Any ideas of where to go? I was thinking of the channel but don't know for sure. Dave

Nice job Nate.  Regarding your post title... let me know how you feel about that come June.
