WOW, I have had some great days in the past, but this morning was one of, if not the best mornings kayak fishing ever.

I launched well before daybreak and started trolling a jointed black bomber. About 300 yards from the launch, I thought I hooked up with a small bluefish, but it was a snagged bunker. PLAN B...... I found the bunker and with my first live one, I felt a good hit and then nothing...I started reeling in and I had a half of a bunker that was attacked by a huge bass just as I lifted it up to the kayak. I put the head back down with nothing and snagged another one. For the next hour or so I landed 4 big bass with live bunker and missed another 5 or so.

After day break I noticed a huge cloud of birds about 1/2 mile north. Now I had to decide weather to stay with the bunker or chase the birds. I decided to go after the birds and when I got to them, it was NON STOP action for the next two hours.

I don't think there was a 5 minute time frame without a bass hooked up and all the bass were close to 36 inches! The best part is that there was not another boat in sight and I had all this action to myself.

After 2 hours and a bunch of bass, I noticed that the wind had kicked up with a nice 2-3 foot chop that I didn't noticed when I was fighting the fish.

I started heading back to the launch and was greeted with another huge cloud of bird with another 10 bass landed.

After the first few bass on bunker, everything else was landed with a Sebile lure, and I tried Fin-S and storm shads with no luck.

This is a morning that I will remember for a loooooong time or at least until my Alaska trip in August!

I guess I should have added that this was  about 1 mile out in the Atlantic  in north/central  New Jersey.

Yo Danny!!! We missed you in Mex, but it doesn't seem like you missed us at all.   :o

Bring some Sebiles to Alaska please  4" size in herring colors.  They'll be killer on the Silvers.

Way to slay them.   Were there any blues mixed in or was that first half pogie it?    Damn, I miss snagging pogies and chasing schools of birds.

The first bunker came up in half from a bluefish,  but was the only sign of bluefish all morning.  The best part was the birds and fish were pretty much in one huge area and after each fish was released,  I would just cast from where I was,  a couple cranks of the reel and start fighting another one.
