Zee, that thing is awesome!
Would love to had some of that fresh octovittle.

I was waiting for the bungee monster to reach over and grab that camera.   ;D

Wish I could have been there to see it still alive.  How did you eat it?  Tako poke?

This seems appropriate...

That would be so good. So what kind of dish did you make?

Yeah, no joke!  After reviewing the video a couple times, I actually thought about that and I now I'm surprised it didn't grab it!

Whats the bag limit, or restrictions on Octopus in Oregon?  Also, whats the BKM for prepping and storage till ya get home with it?  Fridge or freezer shelf life?

Zee generously shared a couple of legs with me.  As it took a while before I had a chance to prepare it I went with brined, pounded and slow cooked.

I like raw octopus but the results of processing blew me away.  With no seasoning added (besides the day long brining), the flavor of the cooked Tako was amazing.  Imagine a mild albacor taste with that sweet octopus umami.

The most surprising part though was the texture.  Even the thickest parts of the arms chewed like tender chicken. Mmmmmmmmmmmm

Worth noting that Jeff's video may soon break YouTube kayak fishing history. If you search for "kayak fishing" and filter it by view count it's #2 at 1.8 million views. #1 is Howard's marlin at 2.3 million views. Jeff's video has been steadily gaining 100,000 views per day and if it keeps pace for 5 more days it could be #1.

Won't be long before we see it in a filler segment on the local news or on one of the many infotainment programs.

I'll bet Kodak would be interested in using some of that footage to plug their playsports.
