Thanks to Roy for all the hospitality. That guy can throw a party. The wind and swell were a little rough in the morning, but by noon things were peachy. Fishing was slow, we just couldn't get on them, or we didn't have anything they were hungry for. I was skunked, but the homeboys picked up plenty for the fish fry, which was delicious I might add. The schwag bags were juicy. A big thanks to all the sponsors. We even got a little religion mixed in. I'll defer to Roy for recap and results, but I had a great time and I'll definitely be making the trip again next year.

As you can see the conditions were crappy again this year, It was rough, windy and rainy until just after the tourny was over!

7 hardy souls ventured out into the slop, here's how they faired:

1st place  Dana(yaksurf) won 90 bucks and a 25 dollar gift cert. from Bites On tackle shop in Coos Bay. Yep, he won last year too, reapeat!! Congrats Dana.

2nd place   Erik(browneysvictim) won a Penn 310 GTI reel compliments of Englund marine in Charleston.

There was a 5 way tie for 3rd place, if you can believe it! the math was easy, they all got skunked! veteran Sunset anglers got skunked! that's tough fishing.

Paul(pnw) and Marvin(Marvin A) won a crap trap and a catch bag each compiments of Dana(crab traps) and Eugene Skin Divers.

Anthony(ling banger) won a catch bag, crab measure, t-shirt and a nice plano box from Eugene Skin Divers.

Dave(goldendog) won a few spools of line, some packs of swimbaits, t-shirt and pole holder from Mazama sporting goods in Eugene.

Justin(coastalpride) won a sweet fly tying kit from Caddis Fly of Eugene.

Thanks Paul, for getting three sponsors for this years tourny and picking up my slack... Thanks to all who showed up and braved the nasty conditions.

We decided to move the fish fry to my house because of the weather and a small enough group and we had a great time! that tequile was gooood!

One year we will get nice conditions!!

The larger stringer didn't win again.

I can't believe he doesn't look more embarrassed! The tiny winning stringer, thank you greenling!

You gotta love the greenling.  Or, at least the points you get from them.

I think we need to either check Dana's stringer BEFORE he hits the water, as that fish looks alot like the one he had last year.

Or, tie a banana to his rudder!

Way to go guys, sorry I couldn't make it this year.  :'(

I think next year greenling will be a point less and lingcod will be 1/2 point more per inch.
See ya on the water..

A big thanks to Roy and all the pros for a great time on my first saltwater trip! Pick up a lot of tips (except where the fish are) and found out less gear can be better. see you on the water.     Marvin

It was a great time! Even though it was crappy conditions and weather it was still fun. What a good group of folks to hang out with! I'm always learning something too. I'm not hung up on the point system inequity. It's all in the fun anyway. I'm digging this Penn reel anyway!

The schwag was sweet. Thanks to the sponsors and for those that helped with the donations!

The fish fry/potluck rocked! Thanks Roy for hosting, and being the chief cook AND bottle washer! Oh.. er...wait.. that was bottle drinker!

Dang but that looks like fun!
I really need to put that on my calendar for next year.  Good job on putting together another great event Roy!

Sorry for a delayed post I just got home from Portland.  A BIG thanks goes to Roy (CBY) for putting this event together again this year.  Everybody had a great time despite the marginal ocean conditions.
I think we need to either check Dana's stringer BEFORE he hits the water, as that fish looks alot like the one he had last year.

You and your family were missed.  If you want to tie a banana to my ruder your going to have to show up next year.
I think next year greenling will be a point less and lingcod will be 1/2 point more per inch.
That works for me I'll just change my strategy.
It was a rough day on the water and everybody stuck in there fishing hard.   I was reall suprissed at the low fish count.  Erik and I caught our fish on Berkley Gulp and no one else was using the gulp. :icon_scratch:
Bellow is a pic of PNW towards the end of the day when it was calming down.

Thank's to all the sponsors for helping make this great event.

Roy thanks again for putting this together.

Dana

Roy,
Too bad about the weather, but looks like those who toughed it out had a great time. Now that the house is mostly complete I plan to make the trip down next year (and maybe ORC too).

Big thanks to Roy again for hosting. I enjoyed the good time with good company as well as the fishing in somewhat challenging conditions. Did miss INSAYN & family though.

I wanted to head south, but wind & current would've made it difficult. On Friday I paddled down to Simpson's Reef & caught 2 fish. On contest day Ling Banger & me went out to Baltimore Rock. There were about 6 pb's out also. I saw 1 fish caught out there. Lots of folks were getting hung on the rock due the the fairly swift current & wind. Don't know why the bite was off, but that's fishin'.
