Hi,

I am heading down to Depoe bay this weekend for the ORC and noticed I will be in near the Siletz river.  I was contemplating brigning my Spey and overhand fly rods to try for some Summer Steelhead and Serun Cutts.  Any suggestions on places to bank fish, techniques and flies?  I read somewhere that much of the land along the river is private and wading access is limited.  Is this river too small for spey?

Thanks,

Tomas

They have a dock at Chinook Bend, or you'd probably have to drive up to Moonshine County Park. I think Strome park is closer, but the bank access at Moonshine is better.

The campsite is literally on the Siletz  ;D  With the exception of the oxbow just upriver from the docks, I don't recall the river being wide enough to justify a spey rod.  You may want to call ahead and ask Ralph if anyone has had any luck with Steelhead before you haul the extra gear down there.
