Hey, NCKA member and new member here. Just thought I'd hit you folks up for some Intel on the Manhattan/Rockaway Beach area. We are doing a multi-family vacation and thought it might be a good idea to bring the yaks, maybe some crab pots. Any thoughts or ideas?  We will be there from July 3-8.
Thanks for any bone you can throw my way.

If you go to this link, http://www.dfw.state.or.us/MRP/shellfish/bayclams/dig_where_to.asp it has most of the bays listed. When you click on one, it will bring up a Google Maps image over-layed with information on where to crab and clam.  I hope this helps.

A week early for the summer run Chinooks but a few early fish might be in the bay .  Plenty of opportunity for Crab and Flounder.  Perch and greenling in the Lower most part of the bay.   Catch all the cutthroat trout that you want up by Roy Creek park.  The Columbia river Estuary will still be open for Sturgeon and the Ocean for your bottomfish fix.  Stop by Wheeler Mairna and talk to Jim.  He is a a great guy and very knowledgeable about the area.

Wow guys, that's more than helpful. Those overlaid maps are great. Thank you very much. I'm hooking up with a friend from Portland, and this will be his first salt experience. Were also taking our 8 and 9 year old boys out with us. The trout fishing will be just the ticket for them.

Well thanks for the intel. We ended up not even taking the kayaks off the roofs, just to darn windy!!  We did do some claming however, and everyone really enjoyed that. This wind down here followed me up the coast. I will absolutly be back
Thanks again.

Hmmm---the wife and I take off from Vashon tomorrow for a week's camping at Nehalem.  It is closed for salmon from the campground to the "jaws", but the rest of the bay is open for salmon.
Bringing my little folding crap trap, and some Secret Sauce.....may take a side trip to tillamook, just for kix.
