Though I'm itching to do some salmon fishing via kayak, looks like the weather on the coast will be brutal.

I'm contemplating hauling the fly gear over the hill for a wade-fishing trip on the Deschutes, or trying a lake on the East-side for trout.

Anyone else doing any fishing this weekend?

Some of the guys have been hitting the coastal streams, and they get going later then the inland stuff.
Anyone have a hot tip?

This is my local Weather for Thursday, which is my first day off:  (I work weekends.)

...HIGH SURF ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM TO 11 PM PDT THURSDAY FOR THE SOUTH WASHINGTON AND NORTH AND CENTRAL OREGON COASTS...

A HIGH SURF ADVISORY MEANS THAT HIGH SURF WILL AFFECT BEACHES IN THE ADVISORY AREA. SEAS AS MEASURED BY BUOYS JUST OFFSHORE WILL REACH AS HIGH AS 30 TO 33 FEET THURSDAY MORNING OFF THE CENTRAL COAST. THESE SEAS WILL SPREAD TO THE NORTHERN COAST BY LATE MORNING. SEAS OF THIS MAGNITUDE ARE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING POUNDING WAVE ACTION WHICH CAN PRODUCE BEACH EROSION AND RIP CURRENTS.

THE HIGH WIND WARNING IS NOW IN EFFECT FROM 4 AM TO 3 PM PDT THURSDAY.

A STRONG PACIFIC LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL BRING STRONG WINDS TO THE CENTRAL OREGON COAST LATE TONIGHT AND THURSDAY. SOUTH WINDS WILL INCREASE LATE TONIGHT AND THURSDAY TO 35 TO 45 MPH...WITH PEAK WIND GUSTS OF 65 MPH POSSIBLE IN THE COASTAL COMMUNITIES AND 80 MPH ALONG THE HEADLANDS AND BEACHES. THE WINDS WILL DECREASE BY THE MIDDLE OF THE AFTERNOON AS THE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM MOVES AWAY.

As you can see, I won't be going anywhere on the water.  >:(

Though, if you guys want some crazy weather pictures, I may drive around in the storm for a bit and see what happens.

All I have to say is a 19' swell did not stop us when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor...

That would be the Japanese, and besides, we only returned anti-aircraft fire, and torpedoed a few midget submarines.

I couldn't find the Blutarsky font.

D-Day: War's over, man. Wormer dropped the big one.
Bluto: Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!
Otter: Germans?
Boon: Forget it, he's rolling.
Bluto: And it ain't over now. 'Cause when the goin' gets tough...
[thinks hard]
Bluto: the tough get goin'! Who's with me? Let's go!
[runs out, alone; then returns]
Bluto: What the flip happened to the Delta I used to know? Where's the spirit? Where's the guts, huh? "Ooh, we're afraid to go with you Bluto, we might get in trouble." Well just kiss my a** from now on! Not me! I'm not gonna take this. Wormer, he's a dead man! Marmalard, dead! Niedermeyer...
Otter: Dead! Bluto's right. Psychotic, but absolutely right. We gotta take these bastage. Now we could do it with conventional weapons that could take years and cost millions of lives. No, I think we have to go all out. I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part.
Bluto: We're just the guys to do it.
D-Day: Let's do it.
Bluto: LET'S DO IT!

Oh man, I love that movie.

Though I think that even Bluto would run screaming like a wee girl from 35 foot swells breaking on the jetties at Tillamook.

Yeah, me too. I'm beginning to understand that it's a long winter for those of us that want to fish offshore.

Anybody want to try one of the coastal rivers/estuaries in the next couple weeks?
Hopefully we could co-ordinate it with a little "Where's da fish" type info.

I'd love to, if I can swing it.  Got a benefit to go to this Saturday, and out of town for work the first weekend in Nov.  I have been trying to take a couple vacation days and do some fishing, with no success.  Be glad to play hookie if someone gives me an excuse :)

It appears I'm going to Tillamook for the weekend, and might be staying thru Monday or Tuesday.
I can check out the river levels and the local wisdom if anyone wants to PM me with a phone # (I won't have internet access after I leave.)
