Parts of Puget Sound are about to open for Salmon fishing.  MA9 (16 July), MA10-MA12 (01 July), MA13 has been open for a couple of months.

I'm planning on getting out in MA10 this weekend, either Sat or Sun.  Others got plans?  Tips for early season salmon?  Thinking of trolling with various Brad's and whatnot.  Depending on conditions jigging too.

Have had good luck on the Coho Killer "white Lightning.  First fish in MA11 ---13# hen on that behind a white flasher.  Also got a 20# king on it on June 1 last year.

Everywhere but MA7 is opening for crab this weekend, too. I'm new to fishing the sound and am basing all of my information off what I've read/heard but is there going to be much you can keep in MA10 this weekend with the chinook fishery closed for retention?

I'm currently planning on going out on Sunday, probably around either Alki point or Lincoln park.   I'm mostly hoping to get some nice keeper crabs, but will probably try my luck with the salmon.

I've been trying to get some idea of the good places to launch and mooch on the eastern half side of the sound and would love any recommendations that people have.

I was thinking of hitting Nisqually a bit later in the season for some pinks. If anyone is hitting the sound for salmon in the next few weeks and doesn't mind company PM me.

I should note that I don't know very much about salmon fishing at all but have some flashers and trolling spoons to test out

Not salmon fishing yet, but it looks like I'm Nis bound Sat morn to crab and flounder fish. Starting around the 1st of Aug I'll be trolling around Solo Point/mooching the green can a lot for kings. I'll be headed to Brown's Point once a week or so throughout Aug for pinks too. There's not much of a pink run in the Nis, but we absolutely killed'em off Brown's point in '09.

I have launched at Wan I Da Ave NE near browns point. There is limited parking and it looks like I private beach but there is a public launch spot at the end of the street. You can see it on google maps street view.

Just enter Wan I Da Ave NE browns point wa to find it on google

Back in '09 I was launching @ the end of Wan-I-Da ave. During the pink run there was a ton of boat traffic and people chucking buzz bombs from the shore. Once in the water we turned the corner around the lighthouse a ways so not to get mixed up with the guys on the shore. I'm not sure what it typically looks like around there though. em7b5 lives in that neck of the woods. I haven't seen him post in quite a while, but that would be the guy to ask. He met with a few of us out there one morn, and we KILLED on the fly rods. Damn near as fast as you could put your fly back in the water. I'm really looking forward to this Aug for the pink run alone.

Head south to MA11 and troll. It's going to be really spotty now so it's still going to be a hail mary. Wait to jig until the run is in full swing and there's big concentrations of fish.

As a matter of fact fishing for cabbies or flounder might be a better bet. Definitely more action and maybe some keepers. Edmonds waterfront, just south of the pier is a ton of fun for cabbies and RB should be rotten w/ flounder about now.

Well, there are some fish in my neighborhood, Area 6, I'll be out opening morn and possibly eve.  Trolled with a Deep 6, followed by a Hot spot followed by a Coho Killer last year, worked well.  Have a Downrigger this year but haven't quite got it set up yet.  Got it at a garage sell and hoping I can make it work.  Freshwater Bay 5am Friday if anybody can be there.  There will be traffic.

I'm gonna have some time on Sunday to fish, but I'm looking to stay local...MA11 and 13.

Anyone catching salmon yet out there?

I might take a drive on Wednesday to see if the Natives are netting out of Chambers Creek. Maybe I'll head out there and drop a crab pot and do some jigging if it looks promising.
