We're all loaded up. Getn ready to crash.

Heading to Hobuck with PDW9MM for the weekend. I'm dragging the wife and my nephew. PDW9MM is bringing the SLF. I'm hoping that the 5.5ft at 9 sec won't be too rough to get out or we'll have to fish out of the Makah Marina...CnR only probably.

We're not bringing the crab pots, but we will try to get the Lings and RBs.

Stay Tuned!

The further north in the bay the easier the launch and landing. I have found that the sweet spot for landing is the southern edge of the houses to the north end of the bay.
Good luck and have a blast!
Verizion gets coverage at the camp ground At&t does not.

Bill. I was charged roaming fees from the Twin Rivers area in area 5 over Memorial Day Weekend. Did you get those charges from Hobuck? They told me my calls originated from Vancouver, BC and I said no way. Verizon then waved the roaming fees as a "one time courtesy" ???
 Best of luck Islandson.

I'm jealous. Hobuck is a sweet spot, but a long ways from my place.

It might be possible that Victoria was where you got your connection. I didn't get any special charges, but I avoided my phone as much as possible.  ::)

Got back from Hobuck with Islandson (Dino), Rowland (forgot his handle) and family. I was on the fence about going but am really glad I went. Long drive but a spectacular location and being able to wheel your boat from the tent to the beach is awesome.

The surf launching/landing is so much fun, launched and landed 4 times yesterday. With the great weather yesterday, I spent 8ish hours on the water and must have caught a dozen underlings, some keeper lings and BRF's.

I'll leave the rest for Dino/Rowland to tell.

It was great to see some fellow NWKA members up there this weekend and to meet you, Dino, and Rowland. I am still kicking myself for bringing the powerboat and leaving the kayak at home this trip, but had a great time anyway and am glad the weather cooperated for you guys yesterday.

And to Fishnut: usually when I take hwy 112 instead of hwy 101 I'll get a text from Verizon saying that I'm in Canada roaming, it just started happening this year but happens pretty frequently.

We had a bit of a late start due trying to reset the straps on Roland's new Hobie Outback, for some there was a lot of buzzing noise. We woke up to blue skies that lasted throughout the 4hr drive. We rolled into Hobuck about 2pm (Sat) and by the time we got the tents up and everything offloaded, Micah was just showing up to camp and the blue skies turned into overcast. The 3 of us hit the water at about 4pm...the water was a bit choppy. But, it wasn't the 5.5ft swells that magicseaweed predicted. Here are a few shots of us going out on Saturday, I had 2 underlings (no keepers). Roland ended up with a nice Cabby. No pics of the cabby because the overcast turned into rain half way through our fishing, entry pics either. Here are a few pictures of us going out on Saturday.

On Sunday we got up around 5am, the rain had stopped but, it was still a bit of overcast. Again, we launched without any problems.

We started out and right off the bat Micah gets 2 under lings. We continue to fish for a couple more hours. Supposed to be a short fishing day. We intended to take the Ladies on a bit of sight seeing. I ended up with a 26 inch Ling, 8 decent Greenlings and a small Black Rockfish. I did lose a really huge Lingcod right at the boat, on one of the turns I had him facing right at me and I could barely see the 1 oz jig head that was sporting a 4 inch Gulp Swimming Minnow in that was down its throat. I thought it was turning out to be a great day of fishing, the sun came to play and I had a full stringer of fish and decided to go in early.

Thing took a turn when Roland and Micah were coming in, the swells picked up a bit. Roland hulied on his way in and the tether line he attached to his Mirage drive snapped and he ended up losing his drive. I headed out to help him look for the next hour an half.  :'( We had no luck finding it, $600 bucks down the drain since he put the new Turbo fins on. Anyway, we gave up when the tide started to come back up. But, we did spread the word among some of the surfers (and offered a $100 reward).

We settled back into camp, while Micah went back out to fish some more.

I smoked up a couple of pork roasts while we baked up some potatoes and grilled some corn. After dinner (about 7pm), Micah decided to not stay another night and headed home, just when Micah decided to head out Roland decided to go back out before the sun went down since the tide went back out again.

HE FOUND IT!!! UnFRIGGINbelievable. :o

Hobuck has some good juju for recovering things. I lost a rod over last year in the surf zone while talking to some surfers. I looked for a little bit with no luck. One of the guys we were camping with ran into camp, dumped out his clear tupperware camping box and when back out with it. 20 minutes later her came wading out of the surf in his wet suit with the rod in one hand that the tupperware tub in the other hand. A guy on the beach gave him a puzzled look so he said he was trying out a new fishing method.

Great camp ground and I will definitely post a when I head back out there. It has been over a month and I am starting to get with drawls.

Damn It! I'm ready to go back! >:( We only fished a small area, there is so much more to explore and fish with the right conditions of course. But, we had a blast. The fish weren't huge like the ones we were getting at the ORC, but it is a really great place to fish and camp.

We might be heading out again in a couple of weeks...07-23-11...I hope.
