As tempting as Hobuck is, unfortunately I can't go and also my Adventure needs parts (spring and steering handle) which are coming next week  :-\

Hope the seas are calm and the weather is good.

It was Epic fishing again at Hobuck!

Sorry, I forgot to bring a camera and my cell phone died Friday night and I forgot my charger..so no pics.

We launched at 6am on Saturday and fished for about 4 hrs before we decided to head in for Brunch with the family. We got our limit of Lings the, biggest being 26.5 inches caught by pdw9mm (Roland). Both of mine were just over 24inches. We also took 5 greenlings, no Black Rockfish or Cabbys surprisingly. We probably CnRd over 20 underlings.

I had 2 awesome hookups, (I really need to get a video camera). I decided to bring out some of the Swag I got at the ORC after watching one of Roy's (coosbayyakker) videos. I put on a Big Hammer (6 or 8in). It's got some great action on it. Anyway, it was Lingcods on almost every cast. Anyway, I was just reeling up the lure after one of my drifts through the kelp and at about a foot below the surface of the water, I see a Lingcod bolting after the jig as I'm bring it up and it come flying out of the water with this Big Hammer in it's mouth. It was Friggin Awesome! :o Has anyone ever experienced this before. I actually landed the fish but it was only 22 inches so I CnRd him. But, he put up some great action. Later in the day I had another awesome hookup, probably a good 3.5 minute fight before he finally broke my 20 lb leader. I did get it close enough to see that it was a 30+ inch Lingcod.

So, it looks like we'll be heading back up in a couple of weeks if the weather and our schedules permit. But, I need to get some Big Hammer baits ordered as well as more 3 and 4 oz Spearhead jigs from Wilderness Hunter on NCKA.

Sounds like it was a good time. How were the conditions?

Where did you guys fish out of curiosity, same spot?

I'm itching to get back there for a few days again this summer

We did get some rain late Saturday and carried through most of the night.

Camped in the same spot and fished the big rock and kelp. We might be heading out in a couple of weeks. We'll let you know.

Ahhh ... the power of the Big Hammer is overcoming you I see!!!  We had 5.5" and 6.5" ones available at ORC.  The bigger ones are good for lings but don't catch the same numbers of rockfish as smaller baits.  The 5.5" is better all around.  A 5" one is even better for turning the rockies on.  I've been known to take a bite out of the longer ones to shorten them up!

Forcast is looking awesome.  Low 60s, partly cloudy, and swell under 4 ft!
