Which begs the question, how big are your balls?

4-6lbs. I like to run 4 lbs, but in the sound I need 6 to get my desired results. My 1st ball (that was lost to the sound) was 8lbs and not totally unmanageable, but made things pretty interesting. I won't run heavier than 6lbs on the yak any more.

What do you mean by Blowback?

It means the DR line isn't vertical, it should be pretty close to vertical

Depending on how deep you're trolling, speed, and current your DR line angle w/ a 6# ball should be around 45 degrees. W/ a Scotty Depthmaster DR it's line counter is calibrated for that and depth is very accurate.

I would switch out the wire for spectra.  It makes a world of difference (much smaller diameter thus less drag) and it is much easier to cut in an emergency situation.
