That's a definate 27"er.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

Looks to be a tad shy of 27 1/2.

Over 27.25, under 27.5.  If it was me I'd round down to 27.25

27.375" is defensible.  Regardless, nice fish!

I believe under the AOTY rules you may compress the tail lobes.

I'm always a little surprised when I see some of the measurement photos and numbers for AOTY.  Open the mouth extend the jaw, stretch the tail, what else can we do?  Personally I'd measure that at 26.5" even if it was my own fish.   Props for asking.

When it comes to measuring there are 2 things most guys will never measure accurately.  Perhaps we need a TMI equation for fish ;-)

Ha Ha! I think there's a lot of squeezing and pulling there too :D

It's a little more than 27.25", so nobody could argue with that entered. That's what I would do. I think this is why fork length is used in a lot of regulations.

Beautiful fish!

You can't refute photographic evidence.  If you're not doing everything in your power to show the maximum distance from one end to the other, you're selling your fish short.  Normally, the only thing you can do is squeeze the tail.  Just be sure that the jaw is actually touching the end of the tray.

Aren't there more pics of the fish on the trough?

I'd turn it in as 27.25 if that was the only pic I took to support it.

Nice fish.   :)
See you at Gimme Shelter
