Going to head out to Commencement Bay today after work with the G/F and kid.  If anyone want to join us we should be at the park at the end of Dock (near Rock The Dock Pub & Grill) street by 4pm and on the water by 4:30.  The plan is to fish the Middle Waterway and the Saint Paul waterway for some Pinks as show on the map.

How did the fishing go ?    I work just 10 minutes drive from that park and have been wanting to take the Yak down there.   I fished there several times 2 years ago when the pinks were in and remember seeing many people launching their kayaks from that little beach area on the other side of the flag pole.
I am still getting my feet wet with the kayaks on fresh water and was thinking that would be a great place for my first time on salt water in the Kayak.

I used to think that Bigfoot might exist. Then I saw the reality shows where they are looking for them.  Now I am certain they don't

It kinda sucked the wind was going pretty good so there was a good 1 foot almost chop so by the time we got where we wanted to fish we couldn't even get the anchors to hold so we casted for about 30 mins and headed back in.  I will be trying this spot a couple more times over the next couple weeks I know that this is a great spot for pinks when they come in and it usually is less choppy then browns point.  If you go let me know I might tag along I will post if when I am going

I should have both next Sat and Sun open to give it a try.  I can even free up on a weekday if given a few days notice in advance.
What weight , style of anchor were you using ?    I am thinking of picking up one of these to see if they work well with muddy, sandy or gravely areas?

How did the follow up fishing trip to Commencement Bay go? Been thinking about heading to the mouth of the Puyallup soon.

I and a buddy went early Sat morning.   The first hour was non stop with 11 caught and released between the two of us.   We didn't see any jumping, but would see areas where bait fish were jumping out of the water.    We would then paddle through that area.    After that first hour, things slowed way down with only one fish on and lost after 3 hours of trying.
If things look good, we will be out there again next weekend.

While I am all for C&R, I am curious as to why y'all kept none.

With as much as I enjoy fishing,  I have never been  a big fish eater.    I will keep or give away an occasional King or Silver but almost have trouble giving away Pinks.

Didn't have near the same luck today as a week ago.    Since the early hour had been so productive last week,  we hit the water even earlier at first light this morning.   Put 5 hours in on the water and nothing to show for it.   Only saw two fish pulled in all day with a PB taking one and a bank caster getting the other.

Pink fishing is slowing down in my 'hood as well. Although I have a feeling we'll get another pulse of fish over the next week or so.

Bumping this as I think I'm going to be in that area Thursday afternoon/evening.  Anybody headed out on Commencement and don't mind a n00b tagging along for tips?

Did get a pulse of fish the last 4 days. Great part is they're bigger. A few 9'ers and a solid 10# model yesterday.
