Hey Mtom! Any updates to your deployment arm on the Trident? Did you use a slide-trax mount with the Liberator Mini? Photos?

Im not happy with the performance and the reliability "through-hull" anymore and going with a deployment arm. I'm addicted to Ram mounts anyway, so Im installing one of these: http://kayakfishinggear.com/ramelectronicsmount-choosea1ballmountora112ballmount-1-1-2.aspx

How are you guys routing and dealing with the extra cables? I wish I could get some short pigtails for both the head unit and the transducer cable to make the connections more "friendly".

What type of issue(s) are you having? Mine works flawlessly thru-hull, sans the temp readings and the occasional air bubble if I get in too big a hurry when I'm working the 'ducer into the puck.

Hi Eric

I was out of action the entire season last year thanks to a motorcycle accident and surgery.  I did have a chance to use that Liberator mount on a Scotty adapter and couldn't be happier.  Its just a few secs to install and deploy.  I think I have a photo of it in my profile album.....I'll check.

Huh, I thought someone already had a patent on "liberator mount"

That looks great! I wish I can see how you have your td cable routed though. Do you go through the hull close to the mount? If I could shorten the cable with a connector near the mount so that the deployment arm and transducer is removable I would be ecstatic!

Ling Banger- My woes come from not getting a reliable signal. My depth and readout is sporadic no matter how meticulous I am with getting my puck full of water without air bubbles. I can shut the system down and reboot and will work for a little while longer. I've messed with sensitivity and upgraded software with no rhyme or reason to why it then reads 0.0 depth and no readout for sonar after a short while. I haven't tried the grease method demonic is using though. Connections are kosher.

The 1" Ram ball mount will install just ahead of the foot well just inboard of where you have your Scotties adaptor. I think I can get it so the arm will go over the edge and down and should lay flush alongside when not deployed. With the right tension, nothing should ever break or get damaged, just the ball mount should slip.

I used to have the FF mounted in the sonar shield, but have now mounted it on a Ram extension arm like Ling Banger so I can reach the dang thing! I hate doing the straddle shuffle up the rod pod to get to it to operate it. Again- if I could make it so the arm (not just the head unit) is removable with cables would be so much nicer for transport etc.

Thanks Erik....wish I could get more use out of it right now....lol.....but on extended nightshift so not a lot of time.    :'(

Yeah the angle of the photo hides the fact that the transducer cable is simply routed under the FWD hatch.  I wanted to have the ability to fold up the assembly, pop it off the mount, and be able to stow it in the FWD compartment.  No worries and it isnt very hard on the wire from what I can see.

I'll enclose another photo that shows it from farther back with my mini downrigger deployed....
