The tuna trip was cancelled due to the weather on the coast so Pelagic and I headed out to the Columbia since we had planned to fish today anyway.  We pulled up to the Gleason boat ramp around 7am and we were on the water and deploying our anchors around 7:30.  I throw out my wobbler and start to get settled in for a long morning of baking in the sun when my rod starts going nuts - bouncing in the rod holder like crazy.  "FISH ON!!", I yell out to Pelagic.  Then, it sort of went dead.  I still felt something heavy on my line but it was just like I had hooked a big tree branch on the bottom.  "Umm... Maybe not...", I said.  I start trying to reel it in and it almost felt like I lost it.  Then it started moving again.  Not much, just little head shakes every few seconds.  I throw the anchor and start working it and it comes to life.  After a short battle I've got a nice stinky salmon in my lap!  We snap some pics and get settled back into our anchors.  My anchor kept slipping down river little by little so I pull it and reset it upstream a bit.  I start to rinse some blood and slime off the kayak and start organizing a couple things when I hear Pelagic yell out "FISH ON!".  Sweet!  After another battle, we have suddenly reached our limit for the day and it is just past 9am.  Not bad!  We decided to poke around some of the shorelines for bass but nothing seemed interested.

What an awesome morning!  I know I'll be back there soon!

Nice fish.  That sure beats a long boat ride on a rough ocean.

Thanks ya'll.  Yeah Jammer, both our kayaks looked like murder scenes - it was pretty groovy.

Nice fish.  That sure beats a long boat ride on a rough ocean.

We were both thinking the same thing after we both got our fish.

Those are some awesome looking fish guys!  Gotta love the blood all over the place.  It looks like someone stabbed Ron in the thigh.

Amen.  And yes I imagine it would be slightly better than a hard boot over the stern of the Ambush.

You guys rocked it!  Looks like a nice day to boot.

I've been thinking about URB fishing the Big C but hadn't gotten around to it yet.  Way to show the possibilities.

That's debatable ... tuna blood cures all!!
