Joined this site a while back but more or less have lurked kayak-less until just last spring when I ordered my first yak.....a Cobra Fish-N-Dive...

Being from Bend, I've spent the past few months fishing the high lakes, bug wand in hand . Also spent time practicing self rescuing, rolling, rolling-over, re-entering, etc.

I came down to the coast yesterday for a little crab and salmon fishing (non-yak) with my dad.  Put a couple of fish in the box yesterday eve and this a.m. so I thought to myself what the hell....time to get thrashed in the surf practicing surf launches.

My brother and I spent a couple of hours in wetsuits getting huli-ed in surf no self respecting kayak fisher would launch into.....fun times!  Wish I had snapped a few photos...but I was too busy swimming to snap 'em.  :D

Tomorrow's forecast looks equally ugly (like today was)...but gonna crab the bay via kayak and maybe wet a line.....u think I'd  learn from a 5.5 ft / 9 sec swell, perpendicular winds, and rain  I endured today :spittake:

Anyways, I'm Three Creeks, I'm new around here,  and I'm a yak-a-holic.

Welcome TC!

Don't know which bay you're going to hit, but I counted almost a dozen crabbers in Siletz Bay today. They wouldn't be out there if they weren't getting them.

Also saw a kayaker pulling out of the Salmon River by Pixie Land a little after 9:00 tonight. Night vision fishing anyone?

Part deux...

Spent about three hours in the yak today....rain and all...and ended up with a hard earned limit of dungies. Crabbing is pretty dang good right now, worth the trip :)

It's been a long journey Three Creeks, glad to see it finally come to fruition.  Did you know you joined here in 2007 and 4 years later you finally got your yak!!!

I know! It's been a crazy 4 years....best told around a campfire with a beer in hand. Hell...I bought my dry top (which I've put to recent use) from you almost as long ago.

Ended up with a Willie drift boat after initially joining this site. Sold the Willie, bought the Cobra. Glad I made the leap...it suits me. Not to mention the kids love paddling.

Happy to be here...finally. Looking forward to some fish-n-greets in the future.

Welcome to the forum.  I like all things Three Creeks.  The lake, the brewery, the grueling bike ride up the road to the lake.  Beautiful area.  Solid name choice.  That new boat of yours will do fine on those high buggy lakes.
