Bit the bullet and bought a 2011 Revolution. I'm so happy...  :'(

Sorry, I get emotional about these things... Thanks to the fine, fine people at The Kayak Shed in Hooterville for making it all possible. Thanks too to those on the forum who were debating the Revos v. Outbacks a bit ago. I was leaning Outback but, after getting the Malibu Mini X, I wanted something with some zip. Got it.

Now... the work begins. Time to check old threads.

Nice!  Interesting.  I was leaning revolution for the speed but opted for the outback because I was too used to the width and such of my mini-x.  Of course I just started so I placed probably more premium on stability than I should have.  But after mounting all the gear, the extra space for me came in handy.

Congrats!

I thought about the 400lb capacity of the Outback over the 350lb capacity of the Revo. Initially, I thought it would be a deal breaker (along with the width and stability) but, unless I decide to add an extra 125lbs of body weight and 50lbs of gear I should be fine.

Sadly, I'd look like Jabba the Hutts skinnier and only slightly better looking younger brother with the extra 125lbs.

My first interest was the Revo, then I learn that the Outback is more stable.  So I ventured into buying a a Outback but then came across the PA.  I sat in the PA and that was all it took!  I felt more safe, due to its width.

Once I learn to maneuver the use of Kayak and feel more safe and secure.
Definitely the Revo for the next Kayak, the speed of the Revo is sweet.

Congrats on the purchase.  hope to see you out there.

Hopefully some day I get back into Kayak fishing, for now.  Gotta focus on Life.

I f the stability of the Outback is a 10, the Revo is a 9.9, with a big speed advantage.  Only advantage of the outback is roominess, but some guys prefer the Outback layout.  Different strokes for different folks!!

I love the trays on the side of the Outback.  That is what decided it for me.  It was a very tough choice between the two.

I am not that big a guy but I like the extra room that the Outback affords. I come from a kayak backround so stability was not an issue. I must admit though that I would stand and fish or paddle on the Outback but would not on the Revo. That being said they are both great yacks. If I had the cash I would take one of each. Maybe down the road I will tell my wife that she can have the Outback and I will buy a Revo and use them both. Would that be considered greedy or self centered? Oh well! >:D

Haha.  Getting one more was my line of thinking to a degree.  If I needed more range, I am really really hoping to step up to a Adventure or even an Adventure Island.  So better to plan on getting a diversity of kayaks as last time I checked, I can only paddle on at a time.  Well I am hoping that's not true.  Next project is a efficient rafting system tying my outback to my mini-x so I can take my kids out on small lakes but still be easily detachable so they can give it a try on their own for a little bit with dad close by.

I have never been in a revo, but if the outback was 10 stability, and IF the revo was a 7 (and not a 9.9 like said above), the 7 would still be plenty stable for fishing.  The outback is crazy stable from what I can tell.

So let's just drop the suggestion that we might be the self centered type and say that we are family oriented, very sharing, outdoors loving crazy people!

OK, I'm just a newby but I gotta chime in. When it comes to stability I think I've got y'all beat with my Tandem Island. Check out the photos fishing the Columbia Monday with Pelagic Paddler. I'm sitting in a Tommy Bahama beach chair on the trampoline. It has two large zipper pockets in back, one insulated. I'm planning to use it for tackle and snacks, sweet!

We landed a nice 33" Native Coho that day.

Talk about the easy life! With dual Mirage Drives, we can cover some serious ground, not to mention popping the sail and really getting hauling.

Be nice, I'm old and gray, just got the TI so I could take the grandkids out sailing and teach them to fish. Now I'm the one that's hooked. Hope to meet some of you seasoned yakfishers and learn some tricks.

Keep smilin'!

Nice Silver and love your Yak looks very functional and comfortable. All you needed to make the day was a battery powered blender an have Pelagic make margaritas. That would be the life, Oh ya on another post one of the guys has an automatic fish cleaner on board, you just throw the fish in the stern for processing. Then you would have it all. ;D http://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/index.php/topic,6881.0.html

That's what grandkids are for! I have a 9 year old apprentice in training. By this time next year he should be fully operational as an automatic fish cleaner and snack delivery system.
