Couldn't find what I wanted so I built my own. Took a little time but didn't cost much. Went to walmart bought some cutting boards, the rest I had already. The thing I like about this is that when you close the rear hatch down it is tight and almost becomes a part of the kayak. Also found a nice low profile gromett for the fishfinder.

Great fab job! It looks like something you would pay top dollar for.

Nice!  Looks a little beefier than my battery case....

Though it does seem to work rather well......

Yup! It's also my cel case, cigarette case, wallet protector, smelled hook holder, and on and on....

I just need a ziplock dispenser and I'd be set.

Also, I LOVE those cutting boards. I have minmal tools and minimal skills but it's amazing how useful they have been for many of my kayak mods and future ideas. Easy to work with and sufficiently strong.

Nice, Ikea has those on the cheap too. White, red, or black last time I was in there.

Nicely fabricated, but looks heavy.  Here's another solution, though if it swamps the battery is probably toast.

demonick - weighs less than you think it would. Battery weight is same either application, so your only variable is the weight of the cutting boards. You still have the weight of the hobbie tray. After weighing parts used it turns out it only is about 2 lbs more. My outback can handle that :-)

Nice fabrication job Dale. Am I understanding that your battey in recharged right inside, without having to open the case and therfore relatively safe from the water? Not being a smartass (rare, I know), It's the curious side of my OCD and willingness to infringe on an idea.

I marine goop and screwed all sides except the bottom access panel. Inside is the fuse and foam rubber for a tight rattle free packing. Then I put a quick connect two prong on the end. I thought that if I glued the bottom it would be a problem removing so I just screwed it. I put the connections up so it would have to fill clear full of water upside down before it would get to the terminals. Hope this helps.
