I am pretty new to the Kayak fishing, but have been out a couple of times in the sound trolling via arm power.  Granted if your definition of trolling involves a downrigger,  I haven't tried that.     I think I put in around 6 miles paddling while towing around some lead, flasher and a small Hoochie.  I had hopes of a Silver but managed to nail a bunch of Pinks instead.
I used to think that Bigfoot might exist. Then I saw the reality shows where they are looking for them.  Now I am certain they don't

Certainly you can troll in a sit-in kayak. For many years I have trolled the Chehalis River and many tributaries (especially tidewater) successfully.
What i would do is tie on a kwikfish ,toss it out about 40-50 feet ,and start paddling backwards.Plant your pole between your legs propped up on the gunnel, and troll to your hearts content. This has worked for salmon, steelies, and rockfish too.I've even caught ling cod off the Westport and Ocean Shores jetties using this method. It's simply and it works.
For some it might be too simple a method .No pole holder,no fish-finder,no nets,no gps....just getting out and fishing.A lot of folks like their life complicated....I choose a simpler way.........cause it works.

Before I got my Hobie I used to troll all the time out of a paddle Kayak.  I used a rod holder mounted in front of me and set the rod so that neither the rod nor line interfered with my paddle stroke.

Ive done a ton of trolling in my sit-in kayak. I mounted a rod holder in front of me and point the pole straight back with the tip above my head. It doesnt interfere with paddling that way. Ive fished in pretty much every lake within an hour of Coos Bay. Tenmile lakes is a good place to go. I troll in the rivers also for salmon, without much luck.

I troll in the salt (Cobra Fish n' Dive) when moving from place to place. I've had good success with Black rockfish & caught a few lings that way also.

I trolled from a paddle kayak many times before I got into a Hobie.  I would always have a rod holder mounted up in front of me somewhere, but I always found that holding the rod between your legs with the rod butt propped up on the gunnel, as Mark C. mentioned previously, worked the best.

   Thanks for the support Rawkfish.
You have to love feeling that thump and power surge between your legs when a fish hits.Better than riding a Harley............And you rarely miss a hit-------unless your numb---or dumb.
Looking backwards all day can be a pain i the neck, admittedly. But if you pick fairly open water its not an issue at all.So to cams-76........go do it  man.Have fun and catch some fish........ ;D
